Squishface Wrote

You know, you're almost right, but being that you're a Raps fan, I have to point this out. That team doesn't look better than ANYONE on paper. I love the pick up of TJ Ford (I think it hysterical that you all thought Charlie would someday be notable), and Chris(t)* Bosh is a marketable player, but that's it and that's all. Colangelo will make this team competitive, but not this year, and maybe not even for another two seasons, judging by how much they've spent on how little they've gotten. They had fewer than 30 wins last season and significantly improved at only one position (starters or otherwise). That one position of course is the point guard spot, by the way. And, are you telling me that the Knicks are better than the C's on paper? Are you kidding. My YMCA team is better than the Knicks on paper. The Bucks look a little better perhaps, but not significantly enought to warrant any mention of a six spot, at least not yet. Indy third? What? All told, that list is a perfectly good reason for the C's to make the playoffs, and an even better reason for Bassey to back up some of this talk. I don't think Bassey will be the best guy on the floor for a single minute this season, but at least the C's will continue to beat bottom feeders like the Raps and Knicks. I mean come on, were you serious? PS - That * I used was merely so I could mention here that this the name I used for Bosh earlier is only what Toronto fans seem to think Bosh is capable of. In truth, he's only a middle of the road, and won't be anything more than that in the near future. The man has been around long enough now that it's time for him to make an NBA-wide name for himself, but with the team he's on, he's incapable of doing so. He is no team's savior, and he never will be.
In point form, so my points will be clear:
[*]My list was not in order, and yes I did forget Chicago. [*]Other than Paul Pierce, you have no proven studs on this team. None! Wally is a washed up, injury-prone, former All Star. Telfair and Jefferson came in with enormous hype, but they haven't lived up to it yet. The rest are just a bunch of young players with potential. [*]There isn't one single reason you can use to justify that the C's are better than this year's Raptors squad. Mind you we have 9 new players on the roster, the talent we gathered is proven and under the right system, has proven to be very productive. Add to that proven international players and the #1 pick. [*]The Knicks in my opinion are the most underrated team in the league. Larry Brown just wasn't the right coach for that team. I think, on paper as I stated, a roster of Crawford, Marbury, Curry, Francis, Frye, Lee, and Jalen Rose is better than a roster of Pierce, Gomes, West, Bassy, Jefferson and Delonte West. [*]No, Chris Bosh may not be at the same level as Garnett/Nowitzki yet, but I would take a 22 year-old big man who had major improvement every season he has been in the league and averaged a 22.5 PPG and 9.3 RPG in his 3rd season as a Pro any day. Wouldn't you? [*]Looking at the success the C's had the last few years, Pierce isn't a saviour either! And saying Bosh will never be one is just pure ignorance considering the much improved roster and Chris's track record for individual improvement every season. Again, the guy is 22 years young!! I'd love to know how you know he won't be one. While we're at it, do you mind giving me tomorrow's lottery numbers? [/list] Please, stop overrating your own players and get a taste of reality. This seems like a trend alot of fans of bottom-feeder teams get caught up on. The Raps may not be a playoff team yet, but neither are the Celtics. Welcome to the Gred Oden sweepstake! Cheers.

With a coach like Sam Mitchell at the helm and a team that has no idea how to play with eachother, they don't have a shot at the playoffs this year, nor any chance of respectability. At it was so poignantly said, welcome to the Greg Oden Sweepstakes!

Please, enlighten us as to how the Raptors have no shot at the playoffs nor any respecitibility? How?!! Please englighten me. Because hey, if what you say is true, I may save loads of money on season seats, gas and time going to games this year.
Sebastian Telfair is an idiot. He hasn't even had one good season and the East has increased in talent. Maybe in 2 years can he make this statement.
I dont think Telfair should of gone out and guaranteed a playoff birth. But it is not that far stretched. He did not say " I guarantee the Celtix will win the Championship this year". All he said is that he thinks they be one of the eight teams in the east to go to the playoffs. Therefore, I was surprizes to see someone picked the Raptors over the Celtics for one of those spots. I am not saying the Raptors suck or anything like that, they seems to be one of the young up and coming teams but I was only surprized that was said.
