Appearantly he said it was bleeding under the nail...</div> Well, you make it sound like bleeding under the nail is an alarming thing. It's really a very common thing though. Happens to me every once in a while playing ball too. It's just a precautionary thing anyway. Yao wasn't feeling any pain. The nail was going to fall off anyway so they just sped up the process so he could be back and ready to go sooner than later. Now their focus should be on getting him some shoes that will protect his toes from being stepped on. It doesn't seem like it'd be that hard to do, dammit!!!
Yao To Miss Seven To Ten Days After Having Nail Removed <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Rockets.com - Yao Ming's nail from his left big toe was removed on Monday, which will force him to miss the beginning of the preseason. Yao, who has had problems with his toenails throughout his NBA career, is expected to be sidelined seven to 10 days because of his latest toe injury. The center bruised his left big toe during Wednesday's training camp session in Austin and opted to have the toenail removed after consulting with the team's physician, Dr. Thomas Clanton, on Monday. "He doesn't remember getting stepped on and I don't think that was the case," Rockets trainer Keith Jones said. "I think it was just that the toe ran into the end of the shoe repetively. We had a doctor see him in Austin and he saw Dr. Clanton on (Monday morning). Everyone thought the best thing to do was to remove the nail." </div> http://realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/426...g_nail_removed/ Dang man! Why does this season have to start with an injury to our superstar. It better not turn out like last season. I hope he is a 100% when the season starts.
I'm actually excited about this. With Yao gone, Our gaurds need to step up and show the NBA why they are one of the top 3 back courts in the NBA.

SA, DET, PHO, DAL, & MIA have better backcourts. GS, SEA, NJ, Philly, CHI - may or may not have better back courts than us. That is if T-Mac is not a part of our back court. If it is Rafer/Bonzi/Head/Snyder/Span then the answer is NO. If T-Mac is in the mix, than it is definately better then GS, SEA, Philly, & CHI slightly better than NJ, DAL, and MIA and on par with DET, SA, and PHO (remember, thats T-Mac and Bonzi included in our back court)
Yao should be up and prepared by the regular season. Even after his sideline, he'll be ready to play 3-4 preseason games, so hopefully, that should be the worst thing that happens to him this season.
