Tmac, Battier, Raefer, Novak looked good last night....V-spoon looked out of control at times, and he turned the ball over a lot, but he can get to the basket.....and although Gay was 5 for 18 I still liked what I saw out of him....I have a feeling he's going to be a solid player.
<div class="quote_poster">Pakman Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">V-Span with 5 turnovers. Ah, cmoN!</div> Yeah thats my biggest knock on Span. He has always been turn-over prone. If he can get a bunch of assists, and steals (plausible) that would make up for it and he will see minutes during the regular season. As long as he is turning it over at HALF the rate he is now, JVG will never play him. Lets hope he gels, because he has unbelievable talent that shouldn't go to waste.

He said this kid has potential, but was struggling in trainining camp. I think he wants to tell us that Vspan is thinking ahead of himself and sometimes trying to do too much. IMO, I think Vspan will turn out to be a good point guard. His pass off the pick and roll is amazing. He tends to jump on his passes, which puts him prone to a TO if the defender jumps infront of his target. He seems to like to go for steals a lot too. He does the "gambling" type of steal (like Larry Brown calls Iverson's steal attempts), where he tries to pick off the pass. If he gets its, its a steal, but if he is unable to steal it, its a basket for his man... Yes the talent is there, but at the moment he is gettign too many TOs. Good thing its only preseason. I wouldnt be too harsh on him, its only preseason. I think he'lll get his game together by the start of the season.
Well, for those of you who think that Spanouliss might be overrated after all, rememember that he was without Yao Ming and Wells. Instead, he was playing with rookies and others who he's never played with until a week ago. I'm confident that he will be useful once he gets acclimated to the system that JVG runs. After all, we didn't sign him to sit on the bench.
I would like to see V-Span develop some type of a running floater....he got to the basket a lot last night, but a lot of times he passed out, when he had a pretty good look at a layup.
The thing about Memphis is they overhype their rookies in summer leagues and training camps. Last season Hakim Warrick was averaging a double double throughout preseason and summer league but barely got playing time. Rudy Gay will get alot of time as you saw in that game where he played almost the whole game. 5-18 is not good at all though. He needs to make shots which i know he is capable of doing.

I liked what I saw last games and a few things I didnt like: -Tmac- Looked energetic, and I like the fact that he is driving in more -Battier-Good fit, a hustler, I want him to start at SF, Tmac at SG, and Howard at PF -Rafer- Looked good, but he needs to not force things, and he needs to stay under control -Snyder- Good shooter, I wanna see his athleticism -Novak- A cold-blooded shooter, that deserves a spot here -Padgett- we could use him here at PF, and novak at sf -Hayes- Hustler, and a good rebounder. -V-Span- needs to play his game, not force things, just play his game like he did in Olympics -Rudy Gay- I am glad we didnt get him, and we got a proven winner. I feel he is going to be one of those Tmac/Vc type players who takes a lot of shots, and will be a great team leader, but at least not in the next 3-4 years. Rudy Gay has a good shot, but that shot at 30 seconds was pure luck.
I actually wish we would have kept Rudy Gay because with the addition of Bonzi wells. battier's importance to the team is slightly diminshed. yao/deke stromile/juwan/chuck hayes Tmac/gay/novak wells/head/snyder alston/vspan/ JL3
I don't think Shane's role on any team will ever be diminished by anybody. Seeing him get backed down by H.Warrick is a concern if Shane is going to be starting down low. The summer league guys fighting for a spot will get most of the time next game, so they all still have a chance to do something. VSpan K.Az had horrible games and have to look toward the next game to show they can improve. Backup point looks horrible. JLIII has to play better and hit shots. That is a strength of his and he has not shown it on the court for the Rockets. He and VSpan's play made Sura playing on one knee look like a better option unless L.Head is going to take that spot over. Did I hear Bill say they were going to experiment with Hayes at 5 this season. That Big fighting for a roster spot better fight harder because there is one open for him.
Just curious if anyone else noticed that there was not a single dunk in the entire game for either team? I can't remember the last time that happened in an NBA game I watched, and I watch a lot. Felt almost like a WNBA game or something with all those layups and jumpshots.

That's interesting.
