Alright, I know it's only a pre-season game but I was bored enough to make a game thread. Who?: Orlando Magic at Charlotte Bobcats When?: 7:00 p.m. (EST) Where?: Bobcats Arena Audio: http://580wdbo.com/ (Look at the top left corner) <font color=""Blue"">Magic (Probable starting 5):</font> PG: - Travis Deiner SG: - Keyon Dooling SF: - Grant Hill PF: - Darko Milicic Cc: - Dwight Howard Injuries: Jameer Nelson. Tony Battie. J.J. Redick. Carlos Arroyo. Hedo Turkoglu. Trevor Ariza. Bobcats (Probable starting 5): PG: - Raymond Felton SG: - Adam Morrison SF: - Gerald Wallace PF: Emeka Okafor Cc: - Primoz Brezec Players we need to look out for: Emeka Okafor and Gerald Wallace. My thoughts: It's going to be a close game all the way to the final buzzer. I know we're missing some of our key players, I honestly think that we can take 'em with the players we have left! I You know we're going to get good numbers from G.Hill, Darko, and D12. I think that Travis will have an OK game (He's underrated, IMO). I'm curious to see how Adam Morrison is going to do. When it's all said and done though, I think that our guys will come out here and defeat the Bobcats! I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
beat me to it...oh well...but yeah it's the pre-season, he's starting garrity over darko just to experiment like he said he would...im sure if it was a regular season game an we had all those injuries the starters would be dooling, bogans, hill, howard, darko...but he is trying to see which players play well alongside each other...you know diener wouldnt be starting if it was the regular season...just like last year when we traded francis and jameer was injured...we started dooling, stevenson, hedo, dwight and battie against the nets (the 1 and only DNP-CD darko will ever have with the magic)
Finally, the start of the season, what we've all been waiting for. Even though many of our players are missing tonight's game, I'm really excited and I've had this day marked on my calender for about a month now. As far as the starting lineup goes, I think we will start Darko over Garrity since Milicic and Battie were fighting for the starting job and Tony is out tonight. I really can't wait to see what our future Twin Towers will do tonight against Emeka and Primoz. I think starting Darko will be a confidence booster even though it's only preseason. You guys can use this thread to actually discuss the game while your listening and I'll probably be in here throughout the night posting and stuff. Last but not least, thanks for making the preview MagicFan4Life! It looks really good and it's very appreciated. Also, thanks to d-money for thinking of making one. Also, I fixed up the thread title. EDIT: Here is what the Magic website says about our starting lineup. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">After a strong, but intense training camp, the Magic will hobble into North Carolina missing some of its key components. Rookie J.J. Redick will not be in the lineup in his return to his college state while resting his left foot (plantar fascia). Fellow guards Jameer Nelson (concussion) and Carlos Arroyo (strained abdominal) will also be out. Also sitting out the preseason opener will be forwards Tony Battie (sore right knee), Trevor Ariza (bruised right foot) and Hedo Turkoglu (illness). That means the Magic will rally behind their emerging leader Dwight Howard, who returns to NBA action after a summer full of Team USA action. Howard had a strong training camp, which included a 24-point, 6 block performance in Saturday's team scrimmage. Also expected to join Howard in tonight's starting lineup will be Grant Hill, Darko Milicic and Travis Diener.</div> Source
I'm glad they changed it! I was like, "WTF? Why they starting Garrity over Darko!?" Np with the thread and thanks again for changing the title for me. EDIT: So, is Darko playing the C position or the PF position?
Let's get some predicted stats for tonight's game! Travis Diener - 6 points, 4 assists, 0 rebounds Keyon Dooling - 8 points, 2 assists, 1 rebound Grant Hill - 14 points, 2 assists, 2 rebounds Darko Milicic - 12 points, 1 assist, 7 rebounds Dwight Howard - 19 points, 2 assists, 11 rebounds
Travis Diener - 5 points, 5 assists, 1 rebounds Keyon Dooling - 8 points, 2 assists, 1 rebound Grant Hill - 16 points, 2 assists, 3 rebounds Darko Milicic - 12 points, 3 assist, 6 rebounds (Darko can get the assists for a big man, IMO) Dwight Howard - 18 points, 2 assists, 12 rebounds I didn't make any huge changes in it 'cause I thought that Swish's list looked pretty good.
This would be interesting, I predict the Bobcats to win by 6-7. The win doesn't matter, but it would be interesting to see what the Magic can really do with all the injuries and such.

Umm, you guys are going way overboard for the first game stats. You do realize that this is a preseason game right? Dwight/Hill will likely play around 15 mins MAX. This is a game for the less experienced players to shine and fight for the last roster spots. Darko should get the most minutes out of our big 3 tonight. The starters likely won't get big minutes until the last 2-3 games, IMO. I predict... Diener 17 points 5 assists Dooling 14 points 3 assists Dwight 8 points 5 boards 2 blocks in 14 minutes Darko 12 points 7 boards 2 blocks in about 20-25 minutes(but when he's in I expect to see him get a bunch of touches) Hill 12 points 3 assists 3 boards in 15 minutes Also look for Augustine to get quite a bit of time tonight.
Halftime. Magic lead 54-52. Stats: Dwight - 10 points, 5 rebounds, 2 blocks. Hill - 12 points Diener - 5 points, 2 assists, 1 rebound Bogans - 7 points Dooling - 8 points Darko - 2 points =/ Adam Morrison is the leading scorer with 16. Emeka got in serious foul trouble with 3 in the first quarter. He has 0 points but has 2 rebounds.
Final score 109-90 (Magic win). We needed this win, even though it was just a pre-season game. Final stats: Dwight - 18 points, 10 rebounds, 2 blocks, 1 steal Grant - 16 points Bogans - 14 points, 5 rebounds Dooling - 10 points Milicic - 10 points, 5 rebounds Powell - 14 points, 6 assists Diener - 10 points, 6 assists Adam Morrison finished with a game high of 19 points. This was probably Emeka's worst game of his career. He got 0 points and 3 rebounds. He fouled out of the game.
this is amazing...the magic, shorthanded by 6 key players whipped the loaded charlotte bobcats by 19...imagine if jameer, redick, arroyo, ariza, hedo, and battie all played...this would have been the ass whooping of the century...way to go guys...diener was making plays for himself and other people, i hope he gets a lot more PT this year, he deserves it...darko started slow but picked it up and finished with solid numbers although ft's could have been better...next up...hornets come on magic, make it happen...2-0???????? we'll see in 2 days! I CANT WAIT!!!!!!
Travis Diener did really good by looking at the box score. I love his shot from behind the line. Magic fans, this is your year. I will be wishing this team the best of luck.
I wish they televised these games cuz I really wanted to see them in action, I guess ill have to wait till next week. But from the looks of the box score we looking pretty good for being shorthanded. Grant just needs to stay healthy and we should be able to keep our own in the eastern conference.

Diener will not get anymore PT this year, he is 4th on the PG depth chart behind Jameer, Arroyo, and Dooling.
