<div class="quote_poster">shapecity Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">The self-proclaimed "best rapper alive" should not produce an album that has to grow on you to enjoy it. This album is a gimmick album and I don't think JayZ put the usual effort into making it an instant classic. I prefer JayZ rapping over raw beats and blowing me away with his lyrics. This album has too, much pop appeal for my taste.</div> I don't think his come back was gimmick; the media made it out for something it wasn't. Its obvious Jay has a different direction on this album from past albums. The reason I say it grows on you is because it takes a minute to adjust from such a different approach from Jay. I listen to a lot of hip hop, Kingdom Come is nice because it comes from such a different standpoint, and is different from todays average album. I could understand why somebody wouldn't like the album for the reasons you stated.
