Chris Taft can be bought out since he makes $700K, chump change in the NBA. Same with Andre Owens. Buy the guys who'd the Warriors keep instead like Matt Barnes or Anthony Roberson don't seem worth it. If it was for an Uncle Cliffy (Clifford Robinson) when he first came to the Warriors, it'd be different.
I sure would like to see him show what his true potential is. Big men are hard to come by. Cut the other guys...
If the other camp invitees are showing that they belong, then it is difficult to cut them in favor for a player like Taft who just hasn't been able to get over his injuries. This is multiplied when we consider that Nelson is head coach and he doesn't really utilize big men in the traditional way. Nonetheless it would be nice to keep Taft. He showed some good stats last season in very limited play. It's going to be interesting to see who is on the final roster. How does the NBDL work? Could the Warriors send Taft(I would suppose if he is able to play) to the NBDL and free up a roster spot while maintaining some type of rights to him or while keeping him on contract? I think I did read that there can only be 15 (guaranteed) contracts on the roster once the season starts, so I guess maybe this is not the case.
Guys sent to the Devo league still count against the 15 man limit-but not against the active 12. Taft won't be cut. I don't think you can cut a guy while he's out injured-besides-he may have a 10 yr career ahead..and how much would Barnes-Owens ever add here?

The deal is that---as said above $700 thou---in NBA Monopoly money--is petty cash. Taft can equal a mid #1.....and Owens-Barnes-Roberson...won't. We don't NEED Taft to be here now-but we can be glad he's around sometime down the line. The 15th spot on the roster...you want to let that be where you speculate on future talent-and Taft has the upside. Back troubles can linger-but can also get repaired-can heal.
