yeah and tonight was another step towards getting minutes...14 points, 9 assists in 36 minutes...diener is a baller...PG finally did good, 19 points to lead all scorers...kasib powell continues to impress...12 points and 9 boards
Yea, but there is no need to trade him just yet, injuries happen and having him is a pretty nice insurance policy. He just never got a chance to play.
Honestly, I would love to get rid of Dooling before I would Diener. I've always liked Travis and I'm glad he's finally getting to start (he didn't start lastnight, did he?) Only bad thing is, I think he might have some trouble with Parker tonight.
<div class="quote_poster">50 Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Diener is killing in the pre-season. Anyway you could maybe start him or Jameer at the two?</div> Hell no. Jameer is undersized as it is and a backcourt of Diener and Jameer would get killed on defense. Hedo Turkoglu isn't the best defender in the world either so we would be completely destroyed on the defensive end of the court. Grant Hill is the starting shooting guard right now.
i honestly think he iwas more of a PG than arroyo and i really would love to see TD34 average between 16-20 minutes this year...he deserves it... tonight he had 23/7 also 4/4 from long range and 5/5 from the FT line, (10/10) on the preseason
<div class="quote_poster">50 Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Diener is killing in the pre-season. Anyway you could maybe start him or Jameer at the two?</div> honestly ive been thinking the same thing, maybe like 3 minute or 2 minute spurts to maybe start the second quarter...just a suggestion, because yeah we would get killed on D from the outside but thats why we have dwight, darko, and batman down low...on offense we would be much quicker...i can see little spurts of the game with both players on the court
Diener is averaging 18.5 ppg and 8 apg.......Wow......just.....wow....Never thought I'd say Diener is tearing the preseason up.
Diener is showing he should play and also showing the Magic that they should trade Dooling. The thing is though that Diener CAN play the 2 because he played that in college as well.

The Magic have put Diener at the 2 before. Sure, the defense isn't there but if we have Grant Hill at the 3 along with Dwight&Darko then it wouldn't be too bad.

I wouldn't sacrafice defense for a little more offense (not even much more offense) Another reason it would make no sense is because we already have 3 shooting guards (4 if you count Grant hill) that we are paying alot more money for and have more experience after all this is all just based on a few summer league games and 3 preseason games who knows what he will actually do when the regular season starts.
Well, last year in the regular season, when the Magic put in Diener, he played the 2. He can play PG but doesn't have that much ballhandling so he would need Grant Hill at point. The man is lightning when it comes to 3s so I mean.

Edit: I can't believe I just read that. you want to take jameer out... put hill at a position he's never played before and a position he would NEVER be able to handle... and put diener who shot well in preseason in the starting rotation?

Grant Hill has filled in for PG for the Magic plenty of times. He is a point forward, anyway. Great ballhandling skills, and driving, and dishing. On the subject of Diener, he will be a nice spurt off the bench, to drain threes. I just noticed: we got a white guy who can hit three pointers at every position PG - Diener SG - Redick SF - Turkoglu PF - Garrity C - Darko

NO I DIDN'T. What I was saying was in like the 3rd quarter or something put Diener in and have G.Hill manage the PG position but on defense guard his regular man. I never said start Diener over Nelson. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting Chuck:</div><div class="quote_post">Get your facts straight. Grant Hill has filled in for PG for the Magic plenty of times. Also, that's a good observation that the Magic have a lot of white guys that can shoot. Does it matter?? We'll see.
