The Pats have been eliminated to the delight of most fans outside of New England. It was clear in the offseason that things weren't going to come as easy for the Pats with the loss of both coordinators. Their loss was noticeable on the field in the lack of creativity in the play calling IMO. The aging of some key veterans also became evident early on. Dillon struggled to suit up for most of the 1st half of the season. Brady rose to the occasion, but the defense was a shell of itself w/o the leadership of Harrison. On the positive Colvin's promise was finally realized. The miraculous return of Bruschi was a great story. They made a nice late push, but it wasn't enough as they got handed their 1st playoff loss under Bellichick. Now comes the reality of a rarely seen early offseason in NE. 1st objective will be to resign the guys who will bring us back to championship level. Givens has been a solid possesion guy & he's expected to ask for a hefty salary increase. Seymour is clearly an MVP on defense & his resigning his crucial to the success of the 06 campaign. Then there's the draft & while we won't be picking last this year we are still at the bottom 3rd of the talent pool. Clearly DB is an area in which the team is lacking depth. Other areas that should be addressed via the draft are RB & LB. Your views on what the Pats need to do this offseason?
You hit the nail right on the head. Another key thing is that they need to remain healthy throughout the '06 season. I truly hope we go to and win SB 41 next year so that we can rub it in basically everyone's faces on this board. It seems like the Patriots are like the Cowboys now, you either love them or hate their guts. I thought that was really classy how the crowd booed Brady for the coin toss at SB 40. Oh well, he knows that he is a bad ass.
