Faced with signing Milicic to a extension or waiting until next summer when his contract ends and he becomes a free agent (the Magic will have first-refusal rights), GM Otis Smith has indicated he wants to judge the 21-year-old's worth on more than the 30 games he played in Orlando last season. </div> If Darko becomes the player he showed he can be at the worlds, he might be alot more expensive...any thoughts? Low ball him now while hes value is low. His value will not get any lower then it is now in my opinion, it can only rise. While im not expecting big numbers like some i do see a production rise. With it basically being his first nba season teams will over pay. Worst case scenario is Orlando forking out 8million for this guy.
Hopefully, the Magic don't overpay for his services. He has shown potential, but he shouldn't get ahead of himself.
if he plays how we was playing last the end of last year..we need to get him an extension before the trade deadline and hopefully before christmas...if not we pretty much we be not seeing him in a magic uni or paying him a **** load...
pay later, make him worth it at least cause if u pay him now he's gonna either get injured (nene) or suck next year (olowakandi)
Wait a season. He knows he has a lot to prove before the Magic offer him a larger contract at the end of the season. Think about it - if the Magic were to offer him a large contract right now, he might just sign the dotted line and slack off. Make him work for his money - he has the body, potential, and skills he just needs to apply them. No more excuses; hes out of Detroit, no longer a rookie, and this is his year to prove all of his critics wrong. The Magic (and all NBA teams) are great at overpaying players that never live up to their hype/potential. See what he's worth before overpaying him.
