<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Prince said the news that he was becoming a captain wasn't a surprise.

"I figured if we were going to have tri-captains, I'd be one of them," Prince said. "Me, Rip and Chauncey have been here the longest."

Prince has gone from a late-round Pistons draft pick looking to crack the playing rotation, to one of the NBA's most complete players.

Now with a new title, Prince said his approach remains the same.

"I just lead by example," said Prince, who has been named to the NBA's All-Defensive team each of the last two seasons. "That's what it's going to be."

Pistons coach Flip Saunders is looking for better play from his starters.

"The main guys have played good in spurts," Saunders said. "We just haven't played as consistent as they're going to play."

Billups believes that will change in the final couple of preseason games as the team starts to prepare in earnest for the regular season.

"Right now," Billups said, "the focus is just trying to catch everybody else up to the guys that have been here."

Though they are no longer teammates, that hasn't prevented Billups from keeping in touch with Ben Wallace. Billups said they have talked frequently since Wallace joined the Chicago Bulls.

"We talk all the time," Billups said. "Since the (preseason) started, we've talked like seven, eight times. We remain close, close friends. I miss him dearly, and I'm sure he feels the same way." </div>

Prince is one of my favorite defenders because of his length. I wonder if hes gonna score more this year.

It's unfair that the league had to ruin Tayshaun Prince's game. I will always remember him for his superb defensive job on Kobe Bryant in that one finals.

^ I mean Prince is a defender who has long arms and likes to harass players a lot with his length. Now the league is getting less physical and Prince can't really touch a defender. For some reason Bruce Bowen and Ron Artest can but Prince can't. I think Prince is having a hard time adjusting to the less physical game. Same thing with Trenton Hassell of the Timberwolves.
