    <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">PORTLAND, Ore. - As soon as Warriors center Troy Murphy fell to the Rose Garden floor Tuesday night, he knew something wasn't quite right.

    "I could feel it wasn't sweat coming off of my face," Murphy said.

    Instead, it was blood flowing from his nose, which was almost certainly broken by a blow from the right elbow of Portland Trail Blazers forward Zach Randolph late in the fourth quarter of the Warriors' 124-120 overtime win.

    Murphy did not have X-rays taken Tuesday, but the team nevertheless said that "preliminary indications" were that he had suffered the third or fourth broken nose of his NBA career. Coach Don Nelson said Murphy "will probably miss some time" with the injury.

    It wasn't hard to see how the Trail Blazers doctors who examined Murphy came to their conclusion; Murphy's nose, which had previously leaned to the right, was bent in the other direction as he gingerly got dressed for the Warriors' flight to Los Angeles.

    Murphy was expected to stay in an L.A. area hospital for observation Tuesday night and undergo X-rays Wednesday.

    Randolph appeared to hit Murphy inadvertently while the two were fighting for a rebound with slightly more than 2 minutes left in regulation. Randolph ended up gaining control of the ball and scoring a putback basket to get the Blazers to within a point.

    Murphy described this as being "the worst" of his multiple breaks.

    "This is a bad one, yeah. Sometimes you get hit here and there, but this one I could see under my eye," said Murphy, who showed he hadn't lost his sense of humor. "Unfortunately, the hair did not deflect any of the blow."</div>

    The mystery question is this....

    Does Murphy get his nose broken so often because it is a huge target, or because of his "in your face" style of play?

    lol. I think his nose is in people's faces because of his "in your face" style of play and because it's a big target.

    Murphy is the true Birdman. He looks like Big Bird from sesame street.

    I wonder if POB will start as center now, if Troy misses the next preseason game. Hopefully Ike gets more PT too.

    This should be interesting. Maybe everything Warriors is interesting...well maybe that is going a little too far...

    My guess is that Nelly goes with Biendrens as a starter with O'Bryant as the back up with Diogu making a cameo only if they get in foul trouble.

    Oh yeah, Andris - for some reason I forgot about him. I am printing my tickets right now for tomorrow's game against New Orleans. I had no idea that they were going to play this game at the Staples Center. I would like to see these young bigs like Andris, POB, and Ike get some good PT tomorrow [IMG].

    I get to take a philosophy intro to ethics exam from 2-3:15, then hope that traffic isn't too bad, and make it to the Staples Center by 4PM from CSULB(Mike Montgomery's alma mater [IMG] )...This should be fun. At least it won't be Friday, or else the 405 might not be so nice to me.

    I can't believe how many times Murphy has broken his nose. Well maybe by the way he plays it's believeable. I remember Jim Barnett telling how someone, I didn't catch the name he said, broke his nose like 7 times in 14 years of playing in the NBA after. At least it hasn't been an eye I suppose. Maybe having a big nose makes good protection from elbows getting to the eye. hmmm...

    I'm guessing POB over Biedrins because POB can shoot some from over 15 feet (best free throw shooting center too).

    C'mon Diogu learn that playbook, man! I'm pulling for you! It's about time we finally had some physical players that can back somebody down, get to the line, playmake from the high post and also take the medium-long range jumper.

    I'm also pulling for Ellis because he's on my fantasy team and he's very Gilbert Arenas-like only quicker and skinnier and not as experienced or polished.

    I wouldn't read into Ike's lack of playing time too much. Nelly does this with people. He puts them in the doghouse until they earn their way out. If they make it out then he'll go to war for them.

    I think it's because his nose just ends up being in their face. [IMG]

    Maybe Murphy has been telling too many lies to Gippetto?

    Nose ==

    "yeah I play defense."

    Nose ====

    "I'm unselfish with the ball."

    Nose =======

    Actually, it's more wide than it is long. He's like a horsey.

    His nose was so messed up before this. I wonder what it's going to look like when it heals.
