<div class="quote_poster">norespect Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">I agree with you 100%. IF you would consider gettin rid of a coach over a player, then you probably have the wrong coach for the job anyway. Still, backing a coach is a rarity. They are cheaper then players and its easier to fire a coach then get rid of players for equal value. Don't you like the lakers...don't you think that the organization would get rid of any coach/player/ball-boy/announcer/laker girl, before they got rid of Kobe?</div>

Not necessarily. Dr. Buss didn't put up with Shaq's antics, and if Kobe publicly disrespected Dr. Buss or the Laker organization, he'd be shipped out of LA as well.

og15, the Spurs game plan was to let Amare get his points, because Popovich didn't want the Suns to get hot from behind the arc. His strategy was to allow one player to get off (Amare), but for the other 4 players to stay out of rhythm. So when the time came for the Suns to make a perimeter shot, the odds were higher on them missing it. The strategy worked and the Spurs went on to win the series.

That doesn't prove that Amare can't score, it just proves that the Spurs had a good strategy and were the better team. When a team plans to "let a guy score", it always means the guys is a very good scorer. Also you never truly want to have a guy scoring a high efficiency 30 PPG on you. They stuck Duncan a great defender on him, and he was still having his way for the most part in iso situations.
