I just saw the minute and fifteen segement on PTI, but supposedly David Stern may enforce a new rule to the game that players are not aloud to strip off their warmups before they take the court. I can`t find any articles on the internet though. Another rule they said was rumored was if a players jersey was not tucked in, the team would be penalized with a delay of game rule.
Anybody else see this on PTI?

The tucking in the jersey thing I can understand, but the whole thing with ripping off the warmups. Ridiculous.

How stupid can you get? The dress code was understandable. The new ball was pointless and is not going well so far but now this? First off, if your trying to appeal to the business men buying tickets..I'm sure they could care less wether or not you strip your warmup off before the game or have a neatly tucked in jersey. I think David Stern is getting on everyones nerves.

I wonder how long it will be until the NBA starts banning certain hairstyles (afros, cornrows .... yeah, you get the picture).

    1) NBA Age Limit
    2) Dress Code
    3) New NBA Ball
    4) Stricter refs (last night Lamar Odom got called for a technical for lightly pounding the ball after the opposing team's player scored)

It's actually been suggested by a few that afros should not be allowed to be out during a game because there have been complaints and concerns regarding the effect it has on rebounding and defense.

The other restrictive rules Stern has employed have had at least some logic or reason, no mater how minuscule, but this seems purely arbitrary. It seems like he just wants to change everything the players like to do in order to change the image of the NBA. He really is becoming a dictator with all the restrictions he's putting on the players and he punishes any player or coach who criticizes him or the officials.

Let's add this to the pointless bans. Garnett was right.........the NBA is becoming a Castro nation.

Hopefully something gets written about this, so we know if it may actually happen.

No stripping off the warmup...what does that even mean??

I love the pointless outrage, by the way.

Yea I was confused too, does it mean that players have to wear their warmup while entering the arena and can't take them off until some designated time or something?

Yea, just seems like pent up outrage from the dress code/no whining rule being let off. This is a minor rule and will barely have an effect with the players.

I'm not outraged, but there reason to be concerned. It's such a trivial, arbitrary thing ... if the NBA wants to restrict that, what else will they restrict?

That's reasonable. Stern keeps on making changes to things that nobody would even have thought twice about before. I get the feeling that he's trying to make it a more family friendly game (hence the no "stripping" rule). Either way, it's kind of pointless.

Well, I was under the impression that it meant if a player hasn't played yet in the game, he isn't allowed to take off his warm ups. Obviously it isn't a big deal, but like Chutney and durvasa said, what other crazy rules will they come up with? It just seems to me like David Stern will start abusing his power

It's the principle of the matter that aggravates me (and should aggravate the players). I want a legit reason why Stern feels the need to make such a petty rule, he just seems to be getting more and more out of control with the restrictions and rules. It's fine if he's changing a rule but give the players a reason or a say in whether/how the rule is being changed. If this continues to be tolerated he'll just keep changing the NBA more and more until it fits his perfect image of a league designed to attract the same mass audience that the NFL attracts even at the cost of the culture and tradition of basketball.

Despite these seemingly pointless changes, Stern is a smart guy. He doesn't make moves for the sake of making moves. The problem might be that he's changing the game to cater towards a market that is in the minority.

You know when a player coming into the game for the first time rips off those pants with the buttons down the pant leg, bench players where them over their shorts, well supposedly Stern once to ban that action from the game.

So, he doesn't want people to take off their tear-aways just before entering the game?

So would the rule be all players must have their tear-aways removed once the game starts?
