David Stern is a BUM. hes becoming a terible commisioner and hes just trying to distract people from the fact that he cant do anything by constantly making, small, stupid, useless rules. i want him out... NOW!

I can imagine a commissioner doing a much worse job, and making the nba not as enjoyable.

I won't be able to sleep tonight knowing that some random poster heard on PTI that there's a chance that David Stern might stop players from disrobing as they walk towards the scorer's table.

I tend to do it with my parents though over relatively meaningless things.
Apparently they're also banning most sweatbands and those rubber bracelets that have become popular recently: <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">players can no longer come to the scorers table, to check in, with their jerseys untucked. On the floor, of course, they've always had to keep shirts tucked in. Those full-length leg tights that got popular last season are no longer allowed. And, sweat bands may be worn only on the wrists, and not on the upper arm or forearm. I thought of Kobe when I heard this one, because he always wears one on his bicep. Well, he used to. That won't be allowed anymore. Players also won't be allowed wear those rubber bands, that have become so popular, on their wrists.</div> http://www.truehoop.com/leaguewide-issues-...of-the-nba.html If I were a player making more than the minimum I'd go out of my way to defy these rules then pay each fine that the league gives out and give the same amount to charity in protest. Then that could become a league-wide trend and get publicity from the media and even though you'd look like a whiny b**** you're at least giving money to charity while protesting Stern and his arbitrary rules. Maybe there's not enough to warrant this now but if (and when) these pass I know for sure Stern will keep piling stupid crap like this on in the coming seasons and IMO it's only a matter of time before the players start to protest somehow.

The location of one's sweatbands shouldn't be important to anybody, really. I can't understand why any player would care, and I also don't understand why Stern cares. The stripping/jersey tuck makes sense to me, and the baller bands are probably for safety reasons.
<div class="quote_poster">SkiptoMyLue11 Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">I don't think they are banning headbands are they?</div> No from my understanding its just sweatbands on forearms or upper arms (a la Ben Wallace) as well as the tights and rubber bracelets.
I don't believe any of this until it is made official. To ban headbands or rubber bands would be downright stupid IMO. It will definetly piss off the players, regardless of how minor it may seem. Some of the players wear their on-court accessories relgiously.

Sure it may not effect their play much but why does Stern have to make things more difficult for the players? IMO you can't just let Stern do whatever he wants without questioning him or having him give a reason for his actions. Next the players won't be able to have baggy shorts, or corn rows, or afros, or they won't be able to wear the shoes they want, and all the players will have huge beer or car company advertisements on their jerseys.

<div class="quote_poster">44Thrilla Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">What is he making more difficult?</div> He's just making the players uncomfortable for no reason, if they want to wear an armband why can't they? What is the reason for doing this? Most of the players have probably been wearing certain sweatbands and whatnot since they were in high school or earlier. It's like a ritual that a pitcher in baseball has or like the equipment an NFL player wears, which many times has sentimental value or it's their "lucky _______" that they've had since they were a freshman in high school. It's just an annoyance and it has no basis. If Stern gave a legit reason it would be easier to accept (at least for me) but if there's no reason then it's total BS.
<div class="quote_poster">Apollo Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Nah, he just doesn`t want the tear-aways ripped off while the player goes to the scores table to be subbed in.</div> So what the hell do they do? Draw it down to their legs and step out of it a step at a time? Jeez, I take off my pants the same way, is there a reason to be pissed off about this? The title of this thread is even more ridiculous. If you're not tearing the pants off but get it off some other way, you're not "stripping"? Dictionary.com defines "stripping" to deprive of clothing or to make bare. Don't see how taking your pants off another way still covers you up. Talk about misleading.
