Dont' read too much into it. I'd still be willing to bet that as soon as Murphy is back POB goes to 3rd or maybe 4th string

You are correct, ryanfish, it depends on the situation. If we're talking defense, open court running, and hustle play Biedrins is the new backup to Murphy. If we're talking the closest player to resembling what we need in Murphy we're talking either Zarko or POB. I think POB is the stronger rebounder and isn't as bad as Biedrins or Zarko at the foul line (maybe same as Zarko or better). But we do have some stronger shotblocking than Zarko or Murphy with POB and he's not a sloth either.

But with Murphy out, I felt a lot of ppl were saying POB was the starter and not Biedrins or Zarko or Ike.

Which would be televised. I would guess the Warriors will play the Clips in the 2nd game at 7:30 tip off .... just hope it will be televised down here in SD adn the lakers playing in the consolation game in the earlier time slot.

But does anyone know this to confirm?</div>

    *bump*

I'm sure someone will know. I'm just going to find out later since I don't really get hyped up about preseason. We had an okay record for '04 and '05 seasons, but in actual regular season we sucked. I mean teams don't want to play their best guys over some games that don't mean anything. It's like how we end up winning late in the season when teams don't respect us and they won't even play their best guys the full minutes because they are going to the playoffs, we are not.

Hopefully, we make the playoffs this year because we're stuck in limbo (too far away from getting top 5 draft pick and too far away from gaining momentum to sign crucial free agents for a franchise turnaround).

I am never happy with our defense, but offense should pick up when we start getting more athletic, quicker, and make better decisions with the ball... and most importantly shoot from anywhere inside or out or at the line. So far Nelson has found good prospects, whereas I'd imagine Mullin probably would have stood pat again.

    what a joke

So the Clips and the Warriors win the games in the LA shootout and should get the 7:30 slot and be televised. Yeah i know it is only preseason, still.

Another reason to hate the Laqueers, they get preferrential treatment over the clips in their own building.

The Clips and Warriors end up with the 4:30 start despite playing for the final.... while the LAqueers and Hornets get the prime time slot playing in a consolation game...

    What a joke

So the Warriors/Clips game won't be televised? I have DirecTV at the office so I can probably catch it here, but that sucks that they got bumped for the Lakers/Hornets.

Well, if I was not a warriors fan, but an nba businessman. I'm going with my big market teams and whoever has exciting superstars on it (Lakers = big market team, and Kobe Bryant is probably one of the league's most popular players)

My theory is that LAL has not only a large audience to draw from, but also many bandwagon fans that don't truly bleed purple and gold. With diehard fans it is money in the bank, but bandwagon fans it's harder to get business from unless you're riding a superstar or playing really hot. And Kobe has been putting up insane numbers as the only superstar in Los Angeles.

So with Kobe Bryant as my leading sale of jerseys, I'd roll with the Lakers. Plus, the Warriors have everyone hurt and the Clippers have Brand, some young guys, and an aging Sam Cassell. I don't think many people stay to watch Mobley and Maggette or Shaun Livingston or Chris Kaman. They are quality but not superstars. Same goes with the Warriors, except for when Baron is on fire and healthy for once. He is like Steve Francis when he was the Rockets only franchise worthy guy.

It's like the NBA, you have either the quickest most athletic guy making baskets, or you have the biggest dominant mofo in terms of big men. That's why Shaq and Yao for bigs, Dirk, Arenas, Melo, Lebron and Nash for unusual type players, and Tmac, AI, Dwade, and Kobe for small or lightning quick guys are most popular on TNT or ESPN.

that is all fine and dandy

Then dont call it a tournament. Don't call it the great LA Shootout. And just schedule it with the Laqueers getting both prime 7:30 starts.

IT is not as if there is anything other than a local market getting this game anyway. I dont remember seeing espn, tnt or nbatv carrying it. Only FSN.
ANd the clips and lakers share fsn 31 here in so cal.

With the Clippers getting a better record, and having their own All-STar in Elton Brand, who is a good guy with good family values and morals and has never been accused of anything slightly out of norm to promote. I would think FSN would want to promote that insread of rapist ( alledgedly).

This is preseason. TV ratings aren't going to be good one way or another. Considering that the Lakers didn't even play Kobe, Kwame Brown, and many other starters last night, there shouldn't be this decision to see the big names, because they probably aren't going to play. I am not sure if this is because of health reasons but Phil Jackson also didn't even coach last night.

The whole Lakers/Clipper Staple Center thing is crazy as well. I suppose they are inner-divisional rivals, but how can you be "visiting" your own home? The PA guy for the Lakers treats the Clippers as if they were from New York.

Maybe, however, this is a Lakers event, so maybe they just want to end it with the Lakers either way.

Kobe Bryant wasn't even playing today I noticed. Oh well, I'm sure Lakers still have the fan base the nba office loves and wants.

Just imagine if the Warriors built a dynasty, they could have the same potential that the 49ers have had for worldwide fan base. The warriors just have to change their image of constant losing or early playoff knockouts.

    Baby steps, AF, baby steps.

I'm just saying even though we've had great players like Wilt Chamberlain we didn't really do anything with him to win a ring. I mean when he scores 100 points in one game once, you know the other guys on his team probably suck at scoring.

We only got one championship and that was more than 25 years ago and we weren't even favored.

Two if you count the one they won as the Philadelphia Warriors in the 1955-1956 NBA season. Three if you include the BAA championship they won the 1946-1947 season.

Plus the Warriors have more championships (not including the BAA one) than:

Atlanta (1), Washington (1), LA Clippers (NFA), Seattle (1), Miami (1), Sacramento (1), Utah (0), Phoenix (0), Orlando (0), Indiana (0), Dallas (0), New Jersey (0), Portland (1), Cleveland (NFA), Memphis (NFA), Toronto (NFA), Minnesota (NFA), Denver (NFA), Charlotte (NFA), Milwaukee (1)

    Just trying to be optimistic.
