<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">PHOENIX (AP) -- Boris Diaw has agreed to a five-year contract extension with the Phoenix Suns. Diaw confirmed the agreement after the Suns beat Sacramento in a preseason game on Thursday night. He did not comment on the terms, but a source told The Associated Press it was worth $45 million. "We didn't sign anything yet but we're going to make it tomorrow," Diaw said. The Suns scheduled a 4 p.m. EDT news conference for Friday. The deal was finalized Thursday, according to a person with knowledge of the situation, who asked not to be identified because the team was not scheduled to officially announce the extension until Friday. The agreement will keep the 6-foot-8 forward under contract through the 2011-12 season. It was first reported by Phoenix radio station XTRA Sports late Thursday afternoon. </div> http://http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_y...ov=ap&type=lgns Looks like he settled for 9 mill a year.
Next year the Suns will have a 73.5 mill in guaranteed salaries. 49 mill is in 4 players 16 in Marion 11 in Nash 12 in Amare 9 in Diaw
Kurt Thomas likely gets dealt before next season. The Suns also get the Hawks 1st round pick next year (top 3 protected.) Salar capwise, they should be fine for next season. This was a fair contract for Diaw, he deserved a deal between $8M to $9M, I'm sure both sides are happy to get this out of the way.

Salary cap wise the Suns will have over $70 million allocated to 10 players. I believe they will be over the cap. They should recieve an exceptional 1st round selection, probably a big man to replace Thomas.

Glad they took care of this before the season started. Now Diaw can have his full attention on the game rather then personal stats and impressing teams for further contract considerations, which inevitably might have pressured his performances.
In my opinion, that's a tad too much for him. He's only done it for one season. I'd have given him a shorter contract for a little less just to make sure he's not a one year wonder.

At least you know he's not get traded any time soon, because no one's taking on this contract.
