Does Mutumbo have enough credentials to get him into the Hall?

He was an 8 time all-star, 4 time defensive player of the year, And an All NBA Defensive Team 6 times.

There's no doubt what kind of impact has had made with his defense/rebounding. Are his credentials good enough to get him on a ballot? Our league is biased towards offensive players... It always has been. I would like to see more defensive players getting the credit they deserve.

If he doesn't I will be terrible dissapointed. He definately desserves it. He is possibly the greatest defensive center of all-time.

I think he was a great player on the court, and even a greater person off.

Ditto. What this guy does off the court is incredible.

Man Deke deserves a spot in the Hall of Fame. He is a great center. His defense makes him one of the best centers to play the game..

Deke has done enough to get in. He had a successful collegiate career, he's an ambassador for the sport off the court, and has the credentials on the court to be elected.

I disagree with this statement, I'd put Bill Russell and Olajuwon ahead of him. Russell matched up well against the premiere center of his time, Wilt Chamberlian, but Mutombo couldn't handle the premiere center of this era, Shaq. In the Finals showdown, Shaq destroyed Mt. Mutombo.

Mutombo was around 35 years old by the time he faced Shaq in the finals. I don't really know much about how old Russell was when he faced Chamberlain, but I'm almost positive Russell wouldn't have been able to take Shaq when he's 35.

As Aznxballer said, he was past his prime by quite a few years. And I said possiby with those two guys specifically in mind.

I wonder how many 35 year old centers managed to average 4.1 offensive boards per game (13.5 rpg total) and 2.7 bpg over 75 games. Pretty impressive how long Mutombo has played at a high level.

Deke was the DPOY that season, he was obviously not in decline.

Russell probably wouldn't have played center if he was in the league today. He'd probably be a PF by today's standards.

I think Mutumbo definitely deserves the HOF. He did more than enough on the court and was one of the best defensive centers ever to grace the NBA.

He should be a HOF, one of the best rebounding centers of all time and possibly the best defensive. His off the court actions are amazing as well. Plus how can you deny that finger waggle?

Great defensive player, poor offensive skills. Should get in the HOF based on his credentials.

I still remember Vince's dunk on him. He just stares him down after [IMG] I don't blame him, I found his finger wagging pretty cocky.

Uh, wheres the arguement? Mutombo will easily get into the HOF....as if his on-court accomplishments aren't enough, everyone is aware of his humanitarian work in Africa...no doubt.

The man is a respectable, stand up guy that deserves to be in the Hall. His defensive skills are second to none and he was a great player.

Good guy, Great defensive player, one of the best and most involved off court. No doubt about it, Mutobo will get into HOF.

Deke deserves to make it to the Hall Of Fame. Simple as that.
