"The Nets have waived guard Jay Williams, who signed with the Nets on September 28, 2006, appeared in five preseason games, averaging 3.8 ppg in 13.2 minutes per contest." http://www.insidehoops.com The poor guy doesn't have it
It's sad but not surprising. We just don't have a spot for him and I'm sure if we truly wanted him, then we would attempt to get room for him. He's a good guy but the accident really hurt his skills. Best of luck to him.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">well he tried..just is too old i guess</div> He's 25 and that's not old at all. It's his injury that's preventing him from playing like he did before the accident.
Man, I relly wanted Williams. We could have used as point guard at times. I guess we didn't have room, and with VC playing PG sometimes, we really didn't need him anymore.
<div class="quote_poster">Krstic Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">wow well he looks 30..i feel really bad that hes only 25 and plays like hes 35</div> The motorcycle accident can take the blame for that. Sad to hear this kind of stuff, especially after all the work he did to get back to the game. In the end, it really is all about business.
it could be that he got a guarenteed offer from a team, so he asked the nets to release him. you never really know
The Nets simply didnt need him, not with Jason Kidd, Marcus Williams and Jeff McInnis already on the squad.
<div class="quote_poster">NTC187 Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">The Nets simply didnt need him, not with Jason Kidd, Marcus Williams and Jeff McInnis already on the squad.</div> McInnis is a bastard, and he isn't relly gonna play.

<div class="quote_poster">Krstic Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">isnt he injured? and i remember kidd telling me he had off-court problems</div> He isn't injured anymore but the Nets aren't willing to give him a spot on the team. They aren't willing to waive him either. This way he doesn't play for the Nets and he can't go anywhere unless Nets find a good deal for him. McInnis is attempting to sue the Nets.
thats so stupid..he should be wiling to work harder and get a spot on the team, instead on trying to get money and sue them

I think Williams would've been a good backup, just incase Jason Kidd goes down. I mean, you can't have Marcus Williams playing all 48 minutes.
