<div class="quote_poster">Chutney Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">lol, the Raptors are still ahead of the Celtics in the ESPN power rankings. Not that means anything. This division truly has been an embarrassment. The only thing to look forward to now, is the upcoming game between Toronto and Boston.</div> I can't wait for the game, but what about those power rankings? What makes Stein think that the Bucks are any better off than the C's, I wonder? I know that they're only a game apart, and the C's haven't exactly been world beaters, but this team showed some flashes these last few games, and I don't think that should be overlooked. That Bucks win they showed some grit, the Knicks loss and the Bobcats loss showed their offense isn't the best it can be, but they have been resilient, and otherwise, that streak was three quality wins. What gives? Oh, I bet I know, Marc Stein has no friggin' clue what's going on the Atlantic, because no national writer gives a crap. Could that have something to do with it? "I'm Marc Stein, I look at boxscores and then tell you everything a team has done in the last 14 games!" He's full of garbage like the rest of 'em.
ESPN power rankings are sooo awful. They are actually a joke. SI's are slightly better, but still not great.
All power rankings are pointless to look at for lottery teams without much of a chance at the playoffs. The writers don't really care about it and know that the chances of readers sending in complaints about their team being ranked 25th instead of 22nd aren't high. You can tell how much the writer actually knows about the team from the little descriptions by the rankings. For the crappier teams they'll usually throw out a pointless statistic or focus on a single player. Watching Andrea Bargnani has saved me from being completely pissed off at the team. It's so interesting to watch a player with so much potential/talent, that could go either way. I guess it'd be same as watching Gerald Green, for you guys.
<div class="quote_poster">CLos Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Are the Celtics leading that sorry division or are the Nets?</div> As sorry a division as I've ever seen, but for now the Nets are ahead by half a game. The C's were up, but they lost last night to the Nets, so now they've leap frogged a little. But no worries, after the C's knock off the Raps, we'll be right back where we started.
I can't believe that division is that bad. I mean the Knicks are loaded with talent and you would expect them to do good, the Celtics have a bunch of young talent as long as the Raptors, the Sixers have a mix of vets with Webber & AI along with Carney and AI Jr. and the Nets have the best 1-2-3 punch some would say in the NBA.
Boston is .5games ahead of the Raps It should be mentioned though that the Raps have the WORST schedule possible the first part of the season. This is the first time i've seen this thread and i have NO idea what made celtics fan so convinced that they were THAT much better than the Raps. Lets face it, even before the season started it was pretty clear that both teams sucked. This thread reminds me of a legendary Raptors vs Knicks thread where Knicks fans gloated about being "on another level" to the Raps...and about how the Raps beating them was a "fluke". They said it'd never happen again all season....but guess what...it did, and the Raps ended up with a better record than the Knicks.

Just because I have no doubt that the Celtics will finish with a better record doesn't mean I think they're world beaters, I just happen to think they're better than the Raptors, which isn't saying a whole heck of a lot.
HAHAHAHA CELTICS LOST TO THE RAPTORS... doesnt really matter for me i never doubted the raptors being better, i woulda been surprised if they lost that "team"
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">"(Brian) Scalabrine was the only guy on our team that could guard Chris Bosh, I mean that's a joke,'' Boston coach Doc Rivers said. "Bosh is a great player, and I'm not taking anything away from him, I'm just saying, someone else on our team besides the smallest big should be able to guard him.'' </div> Brain Scalabrine is worth more than his contract. Anyways, just wanted to point that quote out. I personally don't enjoy basking in another team's loss, especially when it's the Raptors we're talking about and they can easily lose 8 in a row as they can win one.
I love basking in another team's loss. Although it was painful to see those two excuses for a coach go head to head (especially the last minute or so), our players were awesome. I find it funny that Doc was saying Scalabrine was the only one guarding Bosh. I thought he did the worst job (aside from a clearly hobbled Perkins) of guarding him.
It doesn't matter who won this game. I mean it helps but it matters at the end of the season who has the better record. Remember that. That's the bet.

I wish we could fast forward to the end of the season, but we have to see how the actual games play out first. Do you not want Raptor fans to discuss the win in this thread? Obviously we're happy about the victory and know that the record at the end of the year matters the most, but for now this should do.
Man I forgot about this thread. You guys are lucky you didn't include Orlando in this deal. EDIT: <div class="quote_poster">Quoting Squishface:</div><div class="quote_post">But the Magic better than both these teams? HA! Pardon me if I scoff at the idea that your biggest offseason acquisition (for a team that finished 36-46, albeit the C's were 33-49) was JJ Redick. Who not only is not NBA caliber, but he's not even healthy for God's sake, and he won't be, for some time. That back problem is what did the likes of Larry Bird in, and for JJ Redick to be dealing with it before he even gets to the NBA, he's in trouble. Beyond that, the bench is awful, and role players are not what a team this sparse in athleticism needs. You're biting off more than you can chew. The Magic aren't improving this season beyond the individual contributions of a few players. And I don't know if you know this, but with the players they have, modest improvement won't be helping them into any playoff spots. If you want into this bet, barring any Raps fan's difference of opinion, I say you're in, and whichever team comes out ahead can have the sigs of those that lose. You're on.</div> Orlando Magic: 1st place in the Eastern Conference and tied for best record in the league at 13-4.
