I'm VERY happy with that. We're talking about a Raptors team that was picked by every analyst and expert in the business as a team that will finnish at the bottom of the league and go back to the lottery. We're talking about a team that is in its first year of a rebuilding process, and has 9 new players, with 4 new players in the starting line-up alone. A team that has had arguably the toughest schedule in the league, and suffered through key injuries to major contributors (mo pete, bosh, tj, among others). Despite all that, we're competing for a playoff spot. Yup...I'd say im pretty happy about that.

The Raptors are in the same place that Celts were in a couple years ago. They're staring at a possible 8th seed (or is that rule where the top 3 in the divisions take the top 3 seeds still in effect?) Either way you guys are most likely going to be knocked 1st round. And if you don't you can change my sig to whatever the hell you guys want. But I'll give it to the Raptors they had ONE real win against the Cs and any team can have a lucky win once in a while. I'm sure you guys feel happy about that.

"Lucky win"...against one of the worst teams in the league? Yes, lucky indeed. Pierce or no Pierce, we own you either way. Hell yeah, I'm cocky when it comes to this bet, and for the 49573948075th time, so would you if your team was in our position. But you aren't. Good luck in the Oden sweepstakes, hopefully you get one of the first two picks and not the 3rd.

But those were wins you guys should've won. After losing all our 20+ scorers, and a number of others. Every one we're playing is basically facing a team filled with rookies and players in their 1st or 2nd year. Still learning the game. And what do you mean easiest schedule? This isn't football. Every team faces every other team. The Raptors play every team that the Celts play and the same number of times.

Things like the number of back-to-backs, the opponents you face on the road, the length of your road trips, and how often you play certain teams can all change the difficulty of a team's schedule. Statistically, the Raps had one of, if not the (can't remember the exact position), toughest schedule in the first half of the season.

<div class="quote_poster">Bobcats Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Yeah, so Boston fans got owned in this bet.</div> How? We were only a couple games under .500 and coming off a 5 game winning streak when Pierce went out. And now that Pierce has been out for 22 games or so, the bet is off completely.
Raptors bet I hate to say this, but it should have been apparent more than a month ago that this bet was off, before that it should have been apparent that it was idiotic. It's a testament to the overall weakness of the eastern conference that .500 ball is considered bragging rights. Celtics fans aren't really trash talkers, we're mostly just hopeful. I don't really have anything against the Raptors per se, they are a young, fun team to watch. Colangelo had some parts, and went out and found the rudiments of others, the result is something far more cohesive, something that might be called a team. That being said, there's still a long way to go. The Suns had to do a lot of work, and find the right coach before they hit the big time. The Raptors are beating the teams that they are supposed to beat, which is generally a sign of a focused team, but they are not beating good teams. The real deal is still a few years off. I understand the excitement, but back up a little, the Suns had some trips and falls, so will go the Raptors. Trash-talking a team that's TRYING to lose goes beyond fanaticism to just plain stupid. I've never understood this rivalry, and probably never will, but enough of it. Watching your team tank game after game is just painful. The final payout may be much higher, but deliberately throwing away a whole season is nauseating. Having Doc Rivers coach this team is just a capitulation. The man's rotations are awful, he can't teach defense, and his players lost faith in him a long time ago. He should be in a casino with Barkley somewhere, because he must really believe that he's always gonna turn it around. I love basketball, but if you tanked this hard in any other sport (and weren't the raiders) you would get your head handed to you. I don't want to hear about it from the fans of a team whose greatest player thus far is the greatest tanker in NBA history. It's just ugly. You have an up and coming team, I agree the original bet was reasonable, but now seems ill-advised: that's called gambling. Enjoy your team, the game, and not the d*mn talk.

You people would be doing the same thing if we changed positions.
Agreed, not like we're used to winning anyway. And you wonder why we're relishing the new winning ways.

Regardless of how low our team has sunk in the past, it's still got to be hard to watch an 18 game losing streak led by an absolutely terrible coach. As for postpoint, don't take too much of this personal. The majority of the trashtalking in here was just friendly and meant to take our mind's off of how truly terrible the Atlantic division is. As for some of the recent stuff, I think it can be attributed to Raptors fans getting overexcited about Toronto actually earning a playoff spot and their recent play. Our current emotions are probably the equivalent of how Celtics fans will feel when Rivers is fired.
To clear things up, the only reason I talked so much smack in here was because of the some Celtics fans actually laughed at the notion of us having a better team than them Go figure. But in the end, none of this was meant to be personal. I'm a competitive person by nature for one, and two, Toronto is unexpectedly winning after god knows how many years of losing and unneeded drama, so I like to enjoy the feeling as it happens. Who knows, we may not win again for a long time; the NBA's dynamics in terms of winning and losing changes pretty fast, just look at the Grizzlies. It's sad that you guys are losing 18 straight, but hey, if you land with Durant or Oden, you're set (especially with Pierce still on the team), so there's some solace for you.
Why are raptor fans apologizing? Are you guys joking...do you think a healthy PP is gonna make that much of a difference? The Celts are very young and inexperienced, PP isn't gonna change that. Would they lose 18 straight with Pierce...probably not. Would they be ahead of the Raps, no chance in hell. Celtics will be battling the 76'ers for the Oden sweepstakes. I hope you get Durant and he ends up sucking. How about Noah...hhahaha

You guys are in the Atlantic Division. Don't give me that crap. Fine. How about this then?? See who has the better record?? Orlando or Toronto?? Not see who makes the playoffs because Toronto could make it even with a bad record in that division. So, after the season, let's see who has the better record.
The Raptors have a better record and have beat the Magic twice (once without Bosh). So yea, Toronto has been better than Orlando so far this season. You guys need a proper point guard before you can talk.

I can't say as I had much to do with the original bet, but I know that Celtics fans are generally pretty hopeful about their teams at the beginning of the season. The problem is that for the last few years they have been poorly coached and always less than the sum of their parts. I get why people made the bet, and concede that circumstances voided it. I just think that you are forgetting the first rule of kicking people when they're down: they're not ever going to forget it. The corollary of that is that you should only do it when you're so far ahead that there is no way to things to come back around to you. That ain't the case with the Raptors. You're not the Jordan Bulls, you're not the Spurs , you aren't even the Pistons. Also, many of the people talking junk in this forum don't say much of anything in the Raptors forum. That's not the behavior of a fan so much as a jackass. I understand that you're excited about the wins (thanks Chutney) and I know that gets people riled up. Let me tell you that losing gets me just as riled up.
