<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> MIAMI ? Coach Pat Riley made it clear on Monday that his team isn't ready to begin defense of its world championship against Chicago on Oct. 31. "You can't just turn it on. I don't care who says what," Riley said. "Unless you work on things in a very focused manner, it just isn't going to happen against teams that are going to throw different schemes at you. They are going to make you think and disrupt you. That takes a long time to get. They are a veteran team that knows what to do, but right now, they just aren't doing it very well." What Riley sees is sloppy execution, players getting to the right spots too slow and making the wrong reads on situations. He also isn't happy with the shooting or ball-handling. "It's a complacent, lack of discipline approach, just taking for granted that the plays will work out," Riley said. "They don't and usually end up in bad shots or mistakes. Definitely, our level of play has got to go up."</div> Source
i was almost expecting this to happen. but i'm also pretty sure they'll step it up like riley wants them too. they know what it takes to win, and im sure that they'll very soon find out what its like to defend a championship. plus, with riley as a coach, how cant they be motivated to play well and win?
