A new stat, charting the most productive five men on the floor, revealed that while the Pistons's starting five was the league's best, the Nets finished second, ahead of eventual NBA champion Miami Heat. The Nets and the Heat return the same starting fives this year.</div> Source
is that best starting five in terms of offense or overall play? if offense, I'm not surprised when you have Vince, RJ and Krstic.

they might have had a better starting 5 than the heat last year, but the heat were much deeper. and thats what killed the nets.

Really? If I remember right, that's what people said their achilles heel was. Their bench essentially consisted of 'Zo, Payton, Antoine Walker....and that's about it. They hardly ever went more than 8 deep, and by no means does that make them deep.

The Nets had uncle Cliffy then...

The Heat were deep, they had people coming off the bench at positions that would be starters on other teams. If Payton started, Williams was coming off the bench. If Shaq started, Zo was coming off the bench. If Walker started, Udonis was coming off the bench. If Walker AND Udonis started, Posey was coming off the bench. They also had roleplayers and other type of guys. Doleac, Kapono, Simien, Anderson, etc. They were 2x as deep as the Nets; The Nets had nobodies coming off the bench.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Their bench essentially consisted of 'Zo, Payton, Antoine Walker</div> even if that WAS all their bench really consisted of, thats still a pretty deep team. in reality, thats not all their bench consisted of posey was also a more than adaquete reserve for wayde or as a starter at sf. udonis haslem is probably one of my favorite forwards off the bench in the nba, he hustles, boards, and has a pretty consistant mid-range jumper. Walker and zo could start many of the teams in the nba. having a very experienced pg in gary payton doesnt hurt either. i really dont see how their bench could have been their achilles heal...
