<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Los Angeles Lakers forward Luke Walton looked invigorated in front of his family and friends Saturday. The ex-Arizona basketball star scored 19 points and grabbed five rebounds against the Phoenix Suns in his hometown of San Diego. When the regular season starts next week, Walton could use those types of numbers to help him land a contract extension with the Lakers or a free-agent deal. He's in the final year of a two-year deal that pays him $1.25 million. "Yeah, I'm playing for a contract,'' Walton told the Long Beach (Calif.) Press-Enterprise. "I'll be a free agent next year. But it's not something I'm worried about right now. I just play the game and let the rest take care of itself.'' </div> Link I have no doubt in my mind that Walton will be resigned this off season. He shows terrific understanding of the triangle, and runs it brilliantly. If we let him walk, I will be pissed
I really want Luke back. Prior to getting Farmar, I was hoping we could see him as the starting PG over Smush, soley cause he understands the tri more and has better awareness overall. I love the way Luke plays, and it seems that his offensive game has really improved dating back to the playoffs last year. I'm hoping he gets wrapped up for the long term, if not, I want Kupcake fired (more than what I already do).
We defintely need to sing Luke back. He deserves it. He reminds me of a Ron Harper type of player. His defense has improved, he rebounds well, passes excellently, and offensevely he is starting to score easily agains other small forwards and guards.
