Actually Mike Dunleavy has been sucking tonight at the line. 3 of 6 free throws??? This guy cannot shoot while he's open. If there's ever a pure shooter and he can't shoot free throws, he's not really a pure shooter. Just look at guys like Brent Barry, Ray Allen, Reggie Miller, Peja Stojakavic, Wally Sczerbiak and they all are pure shooters than can hit free throws. I'd take Eric Piatkowski over what Dunleavy's been shooting sometimes... I guess I cannot fault the guy since in this meaningless preseason game Dunleavy has been passing it up and also getting to the line more times than the other Warriors. I'm just talking in general about Dunleavy's 4 year nba career. BTW 5-10 from 3 point land on their end, 0 for 6 on ours. Time to stop the Zone defense we're playing, it ain't working.
Yeah I just noticed that Roberson and Baron Davis are connecting on their shots. Dunleavy = 6 assists. Ike = 9 points in 12 minutes Down by 3. Roberson might make the cut because apparently not too many Warriors can shoot and also play some kind of defense. Wagner is a bit suspect on D and I'm not sure how well Mcleod can shoot. Ellis has been having some problems with free throws the last few games...
We won. cool. It looked like Baron Davis went on a huge scoring run, but he also got some nice help from Dunleavy and Roberson. Dunleavy = 9 assists. Dunleavy though... 3 of 8 on free throws. I think Shaq shoots better than that. Biedrins really helped control the glass it looks like. I'm sure both sides were just trying to see what players could do what and weren't really aiming on winning until the last minutes.
Heh, Nelson really put some effort to win this game since Davis and Dunleavy played close to 40 mins. Granted that Blazers didn't have much starters, but it's always nice to overcome 20 pts in half time. Davis sizzled, 33/13, and he only took two 3 pts to do so. Dunleavy also played very well throughout the preaseson games. Biedrins also managed to stay in 28 mins, grabbed 13 rebounds and 2 blocks. And, both Robertson and Barnes are making harder and harder to get cut. It would be a real shame if either of them doesn't make the team. But in order to do so, not only we may have to pay luxury tax, we may have to cut one guranteed contract. BTW, out of 240 mins, our 5 pgs (Davis, Monta, Wagner, Robertson and McLeod) played 118 mins...
Baron Davis kicked some major butt, but how about that Roberson guy? He is hungry as hell. He wants to be shown the 2 year NBA MLE contract! I wonder if it would be wise to waive Kieth McLeod for him. This Roberson guy won't really be anything special at 6'2 as a non-playmaking combo guard, but he's definitely solid in preseason. Plus, he might be the type of guy that will be great within a team. We don't need teamwork killers, we need team contributors. So far he's looking good stats-wise and he seems to find his role or else he wouldn't get playing time. http://www.rivals.com/viewrank.asp?ra_key=48 Out of shooting guard/point guard college rankings he was not far behind Raymond Felton, but the difference is Felton is a point guard. Maybe the best Roberson can provide is that he's fundamentally sound as a shooting guard, decent athletically, and he's already caught the eye of some teams after he went undrafted. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Has a lightning quick first step … Can distribute the ball and has the quickness to get the lane…Has great range on his jumper…A fearless competitor who is not afraid to put up the big shot, he had the ball in his hands numerous times on the final possession over his first two seasons … An Honorable Mention All-American (Associated Press) and a First Team All-SEC selection by both the league coaches and the Associated Press last season…A member of the All SEC Tournament squad after helping the Gators to the final, a march that included a 35-point showing in the semifinals against Vanderbilt, the best performance by a Gator since 1982 … His 17.9 points per game a year ago were the most ever by a Billy Donovan-coached player…Set a UF record with 99 three-pointers last season and needs only 102 to become the school's all-time leader in the category…He is the leading returning scorer and three-point shooter in the SEC… Has been compared to Stephon Marbury and Mike Bibby… The first player from the state of Michigan to suit up for the Gators, he is now joined by fellow Michigan native Al Horford…</div> http://www.gatorzone.com/basketball/men/bi...o=roberson.html

Imagine him on the Suns
McLeod started for 30 or 40 games for Utah in the last two years, but he's shot something horrible in the mid 30's field goal %. Plus, you wonder with the way Florida has been recruiting guys like Joakim Noah, David Lee, etc if Roberson could be the real deal team type player who can bring shooting, some defense, and the occasional smart pass. One might figure a college program that put together a NCAA winner has something to show for the NBA in terms of role players. Roberson wasn't on that winning team, but he might have been picked by the same program earlier. BTW I'm not saying Keith McLeod sucks because you never know how some players do in certain offenses like Utah's. McLeod was an MAC player of the year who boasted a pretty decent 3point % and was an NBDL standout. He could be effective in somebody's offense if they want a combo. If we're talking price for performance, the Warriors don't have much to spend, so McLeod or Roberson could be very valuable to us for a season or two, if we're looking to add somebody.
Baron was a man among boys tonight.. W's came out flat and were down 25ish early. They closed to within 10-11 by the half and then came out with defensive intensity in the 3rd. Caused lots of turnovers that led to transition hoops. Mcleod - Had the kind of game that gets you released if you're a 14th-15th guy on the roster. Roberson - Continues to impress. Pietrus and Chewie DNP Really, after the initial lethargy, just about everyone looked pretty good. Dun seems very comfortable (go figure on the FTs). Oh, and FYI Foyle still has hands of stone
CR2 - Roberson does look good, but he's sooo frail. I doubt his ability to ever play major minutes, but as a 15odd minute energy guy, he looks good.
Hey guys, i just came back from the warriors game! awesome game! Baron was unstoppable..he looked great tonight, full of energy and was getting everyone involved. I can't believe foyle started though! Ellis found him down low when he drove in and foyle fumbled the pass and then traveled right afterwards. Right after that play he got benched and never came back again! Mcleod should be cut and so should Barnes in my opinion. They both looked lost and don't have the chemistry to keep up with the team. Ike though i believe is struggling under Nelly's system. Right off the gate Baron got him involved but it looked like everytime he touched the ball he shot it to try and impress the coach. Even when he was doubled he still shot it. But hopefully he'll do better as the season progresses..welp im ready for next Wednesday!

Look at Keith McLeod, the guy probably weighs about 5 more lbs than him. We need those 6'2-6'3 180-190 lb lightning quick type bastards if we want any kind of tall players to initiate the attack. If they start getting into the 6'2-6'3 205 or 215 lbs range they better be Baron Davis (athletic and strong) or at least Steve Nash (quick) or else we wind up with Eric Snow, Jarret Jack, Frank Williams, or Andre Miller type player. Not too many football type bodies join the nba because basketball is that hard to master in finesse and decision-making instinct and ability. If there were more football type bodies in the league we'd have 6'2 235 lb guys beating some 6'2 200 lb guys up and down the floor easily. Of course, the heavier guys might wear out sooner because of the stress and they might not change directions as easily as a lighter player. Unfortunately big guys wear out sooner because their ligaments and tendons are all the same material as smaller people. Even midgets. So although Roberson looks frail, I'm pretty sure he weighs the same as the other guys like Jason Terry/Juan dixon or something and he could be as physically strong if he conditions himself right. If we're doing the Nelson thing, the lighter the better. If we're doing halfcourt, I want my guards strong like Payton/Cassell/Baron Davis or Gilbert Arenas. We're talking legit post-up threats and not that bad creating or finding their own shot off the dribble.

I like players like Ike, Brand, Randolph (on offense at least), Emeka Okafor. I'm hoping at least one traditional big man can thrive in Nelly's style. If not, the Ike pick was a waste. They say Ike needs to learn how to play in Nelson's style, but I think Ike can be effective when we're trying to score on isolations or getting the ball run through the high post. But that doesn't seem like Nelson's style. It's always a perimeter attack with Nelson.
