How could lebron not win MVP aside from being injured? He already won 50 games last season and was mvp runner up. assuming the cavs win more games than that this season which is likely and he puts up his great numbers i can't see him not winning it.

As for the spurs if duncan is 100% they will be major contenders.

No need for explaining, only time will tell. I can just write an article right now and predict who's champ and who's MVP. What's the point?

    Dallas - Champions (Unfortuenatly)
    MVP- Tracy Mcgrady

Rockets have something to prove this year. I think Tmac will lead the Rockets to the second best record in the West and into the second round of the playoffs giving Tmac the MVP award.

Dwayne Wade hype has died down and mostly because his performance in the US games was subpar compared to his finals performance which was truelly dominating.

Lebron and Steve Nash are other MVp candidates. Spurs and the Heat might be championship teams as well. Dallas just has way to much depth. They have guys at every position that would start for other teams.

in order for this to happen TMac would have to put up somewhere around 28-30 pts, the rockets would have to win the division, and Miami and Cleveland would have to decline in wins.....I just don't see all of that happening.

Why would Dwyane Wade score 35 points a game on a team full of all stars.... plus why would lebron get mvp if he played worse than wade in FIBA.

    I agree.

How can Nash not win the MVP again? He is only going to get better with Phoenix, and if Amare is really back then I expect them to win the whole shebang. As much as I hate Nash being MVP, the NBA is biased. I don't care to elaborate either.

Then again, I don't think the league will want Nash as MVP 3 times in a row, or 3 times period for that matter. If he gets better, then they will be in quite a dilemma.

    My guess:
Bron will finally get his MVP. Runner up Nash, followed by Dirk
Championship goes to PHO if Amare is healthy, if not then Miami.

The Spurs will lash out win a vengeance, so don't count them out.

I'm gonna throw my biases completely aside and agree with them. I think the Spurs will be the top contenders this year. Timmy D should be completely healthy, which means a return to his 20/12 form. Tony Parker is a flat out stud. The kid will continue to improve and he's probably going to be in the top runners for FG% again this year with how effortlessly he gets into the pain. If Ginobli is healthy, that's yet another weapon as well. For that matter, if those three are healthy all year, that's probably the best trio in the NBA if you ask me. They're all very unselfish and All Star calibur players. And the thing I love most about the Spurs is the fact that, even with injuries, they won 61 games last year (or maybe 60). That's a lot of wins for a team who's best player was barely breaking 30mpg and was battling plantar fasciaitis. If that team stays healthy, they're going to be the team to beat. They play defense, they're solid on offense, and they have one of the top 5 coaches in the league Pops. They have everything needed to win a title, regardless of whether or not they play in the same division as the Mavs, who are arguably the best team in the NBA.

I don't know about MVP, that's your opinion but I am really excited to see Yao in action this year. I hope he will stay healthy throughout this whole season.

There's a tendency to dismiss the Spurs after last season, but you have to look at them closely. Duncan will no longer have fasciitis and Ginobli's healthy now. So the top 3 is functioning properly again. But most importantly, they've retooled the team a little so they can play their own distinct brand of basketball, but still be able to compete against the running teams (Dallas, Phoenix, etc.). I think these GM's recognize that last year was more an abberation for the Spurs, and that the moves they made over the summer will make them a legit contender again.

I'm not so sure on Duncan being 100% healthy...what significant moves did the spurs make this summer?

It's not so much about making huge moves like the Rockets, etc. But they got rid of Rasho and Nazr, two centers who were a liability against Dallas and Phoenix. Jackie Butler and Francisco Elson aren't big names, but they can be put on the floor in a fast-paced offense and contribute with hustle, rebounding, and some decent defense. What's more, they've been working on having Duncan play center for a while. If they play Dallas in the WCF (like they should've last season), they've set it up so that they can keep up with the Mavs and make it a much closer series. They're a much more flexible team (with their style of play) than they were before.

As much as I would like to see the Spurs be dominant again if the entire Phoenix team is healthy or the entire Dallas team they both have a great chance to beat out SA in the west.
As far as intangibles, I'll take Kurt Thomas and Amare over Francisco Elson and Jackie Butler (?) anyday
