<div class="quote_poster">Carter Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Dwight Howard- It's his year to shine with Shaq getting older he is ready to dominate the East for big men, except Ben Wallace.

Nenad Krstic- This year is probably the last chance for the Nets and he will give it all he has.

Vince Carter- Has to play for a contract renewal so he will try harder than before.

Jason Richardson- Young, and under Don Nelson, JRich will have his chance to shine once he knocks his free throws in.

Tracy Mcgrady- Coming back from an injury and wants to prove that he is still one of the best.</div>

You can't have 'break-out' years after you're already SUPERSTARS. Jason Richardson is what he is, he isn't going to get more recognition then what he already has unless he posts up 25 ppg or something. Kristic IMO is already recognized as a substantial player and with the big 3 still intact, I don't expect his numbers to DRASTICALLY improve. They might improve no doubt, but he is already recognized as a prominent and impressive player.

As for Dwight Howard, his coming out party was last year IMO. The league knows who he is; it's just a matter of polishing his offense arsenals to a finer degree now and establishing his dominance furthermore

As for breaking out FINALLY, my hopes are placed on Darko Millicic.

I would love to see the DD's (Dwight & Darko) be the new version of the Twin Towers (Duncan & Robinson).

It may have been, but I feel that this season he will tear everyone apart.

If he doesn't do that, Karl won't let him play as much as you'd think. Also needs to learn how to shoot something other than the trey ball right now, as he's been chucking those up like he's a new version of Q this preseason.

    it's obviously difficult to say.
    My guesses are:
Andrew Bynum, he's looking pretty lean and he's got Kareem and Phil as mentors that can't hurt
A couple of Warriors players - Mike Dunleavy will be better all round playing under Don Nelson, and Ike Diogu also
Anthony Johnson is going to be a GREAT bench player for Dallas.
Jameer Nelson will establish himself as one of the better pg's in the league.
    and lastly...
Tayshaun Prince - with Big Ben gone, Detroit will be more of a running team, he will become the new Shawn Marion running to the hoop and catching passes from Chauncey [IMG]

    Darko.

To a lesser extent, David Lee and TJ Ford.

I think Dwight Howard has the potential to be the best center in the game by the end of this season.

Josh Howard has a good shot of making the all-star team.

Keeping away from the 2nd year players. Dunleavy JR actually isn't a bad choice with Don Nelson. Dwight Howard is another good option, Josh Smith, Jameer Nelson, Darko Milicic (3 guys on Orlando, geez), Kevin Martin, Fred Jones, Emeka Okafor could "breakout", Shaun Livingston, Al Jefferson, TJ Ford, and Mo Williams.

    My top choices would be:
    <ul>
    [*]Dwight Howard
    [*]Josh Smith
    [*]Jameer Nelson
    [*]Mo Williams
    [*]Kevin Martin/Shaun Livingston
    [/list]

I forgot about Josh Smith. I think you're spot on with that.

I'm more skeptical about Shaun Livingston. Does he have a jumper yet?

Ron Artest. I don't think his game will increase much but people forget that he was the runner behind the main four players last season for the MVP. He turned the Kings team around from having no playoff hopes to reaching the playoffs in 56 games. I feel the Kings team will be stronger this season and finish around 4th/5th in the West, giving him much recognition as a "break-out" player. I think he'll be a contender for the MVP and DPOY titles as well.

You might say Dwight Howard broke out last season, but I think his numbers will go up even more this year for an even bigger break out.

I noticed og15 said Kevin Martin, I am with you there. Actually, I am with you on all those "top choices."

How about Nazr Mohammed? He's replacing Big Ben, he's older already but he is probably going to get one of the most significant opportunities of his career this year.

Here's a strange one: AK47. He's already well-known, and this might not be likely because of his back... but he's shown he CAN be a monster scoring, rebounding, passing. Last year,

    Highs in scoring: 25, 25, 24, 24, 24, 24, 24, 23, 23, 23, 22, 22, etc...
    Highs in rebounds: 18, 16, 16, 14, 14, 14, 13, 13, 12, 12, 12, etc...
    Highs in assists: 11, 10, 10, 9, 8, 8, 8, 8, 7, 7, 7, 7, 7, 7, etc...

So what I mean is, he's shown that he can do it, not just once, but many times. It's just a matter of putting it together on a regular basis. If he did all that, he would really be making "the leap." I don't think he's a safe choice because of his injuries and I'm not sure where he is mentally (just look at his erratic FT shooting), but imagine if he could post numbers like 18.5ppg, 10.0 rpg, 6.0 apg to go with his crazy defensive numbers...

Yao Ming (He's taken a break from China National team and should be healthy/energetic enough to play more than 32 minutes if needed. Foul trouble could be a problem though. He's got some moves that are virtually "un-defendable")
Kirk Hinrich (getting better at pg and he's got more athletic bigs to go to besides ex-bull Chandler)
Baron Davis (Free throw shooting and fg% improved)
Carmelo Anthony (I think he'll be more than a scorer. He showed glimpses of being a regular 3 assist a night type of guy, but he can do more without dominating the ball)
Shaun Livingston (I think he has a chance to stand out as a tall athletic guard who can make others better. Sam Cassell ain't going to be around forever. The question is can Livingston shoot? The guy can be 0 for 10 sometimes and then he doesn't look like a breakout player. Fix the shooting part, and you got a dribbling, passing guy who can also defend despite looking frail.)
