<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> The Lakers still have 18 players on their roster, which has to be set to 15 by Monday. The Lakers have 13 players with guaranteed contracts and two others, Smush Parker and Ronny Turiaf, whose contracts become guaranteed once the season starts. Both figure prominently in the Lakers' plans. Devin Green, J. R. Pinnock and Von Wafer all have make-good contracts and are trying to break through a tough situation. Aaron McKie, who has inflammation in a disk in his back, has battled injuries all exhibition season and had health issues last season with the Lakers. McKie, who went home to Philadelphia because his wife had a baby, has one year left on his guaranteed contract at $2.5 million. </div> Source
I'm really hoping that McKie is one of those cut. He hasn't done anything for us since coming, and seeing as how he's still battling health issues, he's not going to do us any good this season either it seems.
I'm really hoping that Mckie and Wafer are two of the three cuts, I'm not sure who will be the 3rd one. Green, more than likely, right?
Von Wafer should be a definite cut. Tex Winters loves Devin Green, so it's hard to see him getting cut ahead of Pinnock. Aaron McKie is a question mark. His 2.5$ expiring K could be really valuable to add a player before the trade deadline. On the other hand all the injuries, and the logjam at guard, is his expiring K really worth holding onto? The final spot should come down to McKie or Green.
Von Wafer -definitely getting cut. Pinnock- will get cut, the lakers like Green more and he has one year experience in the triangle. McKie - Definitely getting cut, although his salary is an asset for a future trade i dont think teams would want to take him. Either way the lakers are looking forward for his contract to expire. I think we have enought players that could run the point. (Smuch, Sasha, Farmar, Luke)

No need for source indeed they were waived today. Article is in Lakers.com Yes! So I'm two for three. I definitely feel think that McKie will be waived. His contribution to the club has been zero.
Damn! I was really rooting for Pinnock (see avy). Oh well, I wish him best of luck. The Wafer cut was no surprise since he was just a wasted draft pick by Mitch. Next up, hopefully Aaron McKie
Lakers Waive Wafer, Pinnock <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Los Angeles Lakers requested waivers Thursday on guards Von Wafer and J.R. Pinnock, leaving them with 16 players on their roster. Wafer averaged 1.3 points in 17 games last season after being selected in the second round of the NBA draft with the 39th overall pick. He played in only one preseason game this month before sitting out the rest of the games with a bruised left heel. The Dallas Mavericks made Pinnock the 58th pick in last June's NBA draft, and traded him to the Lakers for a second-round draft pick next year. He averaged 14.5 points and 5.3 rebounds for George Washington last season, and 1.8 points and 2.0 rebounds in seven preseason games. The Lakers must make one more cut by Monday - a day before they open the season against Phoenix. </div> Link Yeah, it's official. Here's the link in case someone is sceptical

An old guy who has not done anything for the club, or a young kid who is still learning the game and could potentially contribute more than the old guy.
After watching Melo torch us last night, we need athleticism on the wing, and right now Green is our best option to fill that role. Unless the Lakers can find a deal for McKie in the next couple of days, they should waive him.

We are already cluttered at the 1, and Green will bring things Mckie can't at this point in his career.
i think we're keeping him this season for possible trade opportunities to match salaries....just pure speculation.

Anyways, yeah McKie will obviously be the 1st candidate to get cut. Possibly Von Wafer also.
