Im pretty sure the majority of the people here think the NBA is the best sport ever invented. My question is... What is the worst thing about the NBA? My list: - Guarenteed contracts. - The leagues rules that protect offensive players. - Players rarley play for the team.
When games are called too tight and there is no flow to the game. Its pretty brutal to watch. Whistle every possetion.

- Handcheck calls - Demanding trades is considered acceptable - Stern is alienating everyone by catering towards an unattainable market - "Superstar calls" - Lack of appreciation for defense and big men
I hate: -The hand check rule. -Gauranteed contracts, if the player gets injured and can't play for the remainder of his contract, his buyout should be half or one third of the contract. -FLOPPING! In general, how 'sissy' the league has become. <div class="quote_poster">Pakman Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Read what you just said. ^^ He was talking to me. He is my brother, we usually play 1 on 1 and he thinks I call wussy calls which is the reason he said that to me.

Having a guaranteed anything, in a competitive environment just leads to complancency. How many examples are there of players busting their butts, and being on best behavior during a contract year? Then once they get the mega deal they resort back to being lazy and don't live up to the expectations of their contract. The worst part about these type of deals is the cost gets pushed onto the fans and consumers. I'd like to see the power shift back to the coaches like it is college basketball. If you notice the successful teams in the NBA are all lead by authoritative head coaches. Pat Riley, Greg Popovich, Avery Johnson, Phil Jackson, Mike D'Antoni, etc. These coaches don't put up with any b.s. from their players and have the full support of the organization. I don't like the stupid charge circle they implemented either. It just encourages flopping and why does a defensive player have to be in a certain spot in the first place? Bring back the no-call. When I first started watching basketball the officials let the players decide games more often than the whistle. When players collided or battled for a loose ball they didn't blow the whistle, they just let them scrap it out and ruled the contact as incidental. Calling ticky tack fouls is unnecessary, and ruins the flow of the game. The athletes in the NBA are faster and bigger, so there's going to be times when they simply can't avoid running into one another. It's just part of the game and the officials need to recognize it. I also think the officiating is inconsistent. One half they'll allow players to be more physical, then in the second half they call the same physical play fouls. There's nothing more frustrating than watching this go on in a game. I also feel there's too, many teams in the NBA today. There's no reason for players like Shawn Kemp to even be considered good enough to make a tryout. Pat Burke is not NBA caliber, the list is very long. I'd rather see the NBA develop the DLeague more with all the "projects" rotting on NBA benches. Really expand the DLeague into a minor league system for NBA teams to improve the overall fundamental quality of the league.
<ul> [*]Players forced into stardom (ex: Lebron James).
<ul> [*]The league encouraging the flop
<ul> [*]Refs ordered to "let things slide" to make Lebron the hero
<ul> [*]Wussy calls
<ul> [*]Age Limit
I guess NBA should be careful that the show element does not become more important than the game element.
Aside from the obvious ridiculous foul calls and the way in which the games are played and contract issues, coverage is the worst thing about the NBA, for me. There might be flops and stupid calls, but people outside of America struggle to even see them. So, I wish the NBA had more coverage; at least in England.
Not being able to use camera's for questionable calls. Like when referres aren't sure. Its maybe that basketball is a fast-paced game that they dont have time for cameras... maybe thats why.
