Don't worry----even with a mistake as the coach-the W's were an 8th seed hopeful until late, when a mix of Montyball and injuries was just too much.

Nellie ain't the perfect coach-and yet is such an upgrade-most of the players will look a whole lot more talented. If ya' ain't done S--T in 12 years...the bandwagon ain't gonna be crowded. If we start off hot----all these guys will say--Yeah,just like I was sayin"

Wee... Legler and his grudge toward Warriors goes long way, doesn't it? Nevermind the fact that Warriors basically gave him a chance to net a nice contract, and he was mostly injury prone when he was with us. 15th? Granted that we didn't make any major move, but 15th? Does he ever realize that even with Monty, we still won 34 games? Or, maybe he thinks Fisher is Jordan and Foyle is Olajowon, so trading Fisher and benching Foyle will deverstrate this club...

It seems as if a lot of the analysts see potential here but are a little pessimistic about the Warriors' chances, especially by bringing up historical trends such as Baron's constant injury problems in seasons. The other most commonly noted concern is the front court of Dunleavy and Murphy.

A lot of this year's preseason rankings are probably based on pessimism and optimisim. Each team has a decent argument for being able to give a good push for the playoffs from the West this season.

I think this is a playoff team. Remember, Nelson is the guy who won 50+ games with 4 guards and manute bol. And the new rules interpretations play right in to one of his great strengths, the 'small ball' game. Above that, the vibe you get from the players' comments is totally different than the last two years. They all know exactly what the plan is and they know the coach has a very long track history of getting it done, so they are buying into the program. That right there is a night-and-day change from the last couple years.

edit: all that said, the West (as usual) is stacked..thus it's a serious uphill battle. so we'll see, but I'm quite optimistic

Well, we will see. I also think this team has enough raw talent to make PO, and Nelson is probably the best coach to string this team. In other hand, I am really scared to death with Dunleavy-Murphy line up. I mean, was there any weaker starting PF-C in the history of NBA? I guess we will find about this team once the regular season starts, since preseason games really don't mean anything, and it favors scoring guards anyway. If we can survive when the game slows down, I think we will have a very good shot at making PO. And, if Nelson can't save it... Man, I don't even want to think about it...

I like the fact that the W's are under the radar right now. Very few expect them to even compete for the playoffs so there's no pressure and it'll be motivation to prove all the ignorants wrong. Nelson is basically saying the same thing about the team right now, saying they aren't a playoffs team in the west, of course anything Nelson says in the media isn't true it's still a motivator that these guys have to prove him wrong.

Don't forget, it's easier to say that a team that struggled one year will struggle again the next. Many of these guys really didn't see the Warriors play all that much last year, all they see is the stat lines. Plus, this division is one of the toughest in the NBA.

We'll have to see. I think we have a stronger chance of making the playoffs this season, but then again there is little room for error on all the players' parts. One thing I think we improved is the outside attack in getting better shooters that can also be quick enough to beat guys off the dribble. There is nothing worse than slow guards. I mean I liked Fisher in the catch and shoot role, but he was very limited for what the organization should have been trying to achieve.

Some said they would have made the playoffs last year, but they would have lost money.

I wonder what Vegas has to say. Usually they are right more times than they are wrong because they have to be. I would never bet on the Warriors when it comes to money unless we're in preseason or end of season games where we know we ain't going nowheres.

I would have taken that bet, but I think it's moved upwards since then.

Well when we have a coach of Don Nelson's caliber, yeah I'll bet. But I don't like the original plan of Murphy at C, Dunleavy at PF. That's crazy talk. It's all about Ike n' Biedrins [IMG]

I know Biedrins has impressed Nellie in the preseason and Ike going 13-17 from the line in the last game had to open his eyes a bit as well. I've got Andris, Monta, and Ike on my fantasy bench. Well, I don't like the Warriors roster very much, but at least Ike and Biedrins gives us some presence inside the paint. My ideal backcourt would have Ray Allen or Manu Ginobilli or Joe Johnston type players that can also play point.
Of course my ideal shooting guard would be Kobe Bryant or T-mac or Dwade with a point guard like Steve Nash [IMG] That's impossible though. If I want a point guard or a shooting guard to complement a star I'd go with the young Doug Christie or a guy like Claxton or Steve Blake. Even Fisher would be awesome if the shooting guard was a guy that handled like a point and demanded double team attention.
