I just thought i'd post a thread so that we may discuss health issues with each other. It sometimes help to chat and read about people who have similar problems. I'm 25, and i have central sleep apnea. This means that sometimes when i go to sleep, my brain "forgets" to tell my body to breathe. I sometimes wake up in the middle of the night gasping for air. This problem has also lead to heart palpatations, and a general feeling of unhealth. I have seeked medical help for the past 5 years, but i have been unsecessful in finding it. Its pretty crappy. I am currently seeing a Naturopath, because MD's haven't helped me. BUt its very expensive, and i'm just a student and part time worker. Anybody else have health problems?
Someone I knew had the same thing you do, and he had to sleep with machines hooked up to him. Not really, just a horrible left knee.
Hope you get better, man. Does it set you back from playin ball? Me... well, I have back problems. My back feels really stiff when I get going when im playing basketball. I have a tendency to not sit straight and slouch when im in chairs at school or computer chairk. Bengay patches help though, for couple of days. But I've started to sleep on the floor and its very helpful. And, seems like my knee's are running out of cartilage.

They are quick to write you a prescription for drugs and then another prescription to offset those drugs. Most medical issues are caused due to a lack of vitamins your body needs to function properly. Maybe you've tried this already, but I'd talk to a nutritionist about your diet, and hopefully they can offer you advice on how to heal naturally. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Generally, drugs that are central respiratory depressants also have sedative effects, and so the individual taking a toxic dose of such a drug is likely to be asleep, or at least in an altered state of consciousness, when breathing becomes irregular. Alcohol is such a central respiratory depressant in large doses, so are opiates, barbiturates and many tranquilizers. Some individuals have abnormalities that predispose them to central sleep apnea. The treatment for the condition depends on its specific cause.</div> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sleep_apnea Have they diagnosed what actually caused you to get central sleep apnea? Based off the wikipedia site it sounds like substance abuse or being overweight or a weak heart are the main causes.
That sucks man about your sleep apnea. The only health problems I have affect my ankles and knee. I dislocated my right ankle playing ball 3 years ago so that won't be getting back to 100%. I also sprained my right knee a few years ago and it hurts when i sit for too long sometimes. Plus I have a chipped (really small chip) bone in my left ankle...so that sometimes acts up. All these suck, but I'm thankful that I'm still able to play...no where near the level where I was before, but I've changed my game a lot to be affective.

I don't do drugs and i don't drink. My heart has also been checked by 3 cardiologists...nothing yet.

Most of the time they are in a rush and will just randomly perscribe some thing to you instead of trying to explain it to you. As for me, I think I may have a cornea scratch or some sort of eye problem, because my eyes always get red right after I take take a shower and usually it lasts for a part of the day before sort of healing. It keeps recurring though, so that's kinda troublesome. It's probably because of my contacts but even when I don't wear them for a long time, the problem still exists (in smaller doses). I'm not sure if it's a corneal scratch or just pink eye/ something eyedrops can fix. I should really get it checked out. Other then that, nothing really. I have a really weak shin because someone kicked me there while playing soccer and it hurts when I touch it (it's been a YEAR since I've had it and it still hurts) or when something else goes against the bone but that's about it. Not big problems.

I woke up with it red, it would become normal somewhat during the day, then when I had Phys. Ed (outdoors) it would turn really red. I figure it was some allergic reaction, since I have seasonal allergies to something (forget what it's called). It was like this for a few days so when I went to see the doctor I goto for my yearly physical, she said it was allergies. I took the drops, didn't do much. My other eye started getting red and I was concerned, all my friends told me it was pink eye, but my science teacher (most f'n smart teacher in the world) told me it wasn't. I saw my actual doctor and told me it was pink eye. Both my eyes were infected, and I took the drops, and it went away slowly and was gone within 3-4 days. Anyways, I'm not suggesting anything, but I just felt like it related. I noticed that me and you have lots of similiarities lol.

I'm not really allergic to anything, so I really don't get why it's like this. Yeah, I hate being at school and the eye just starts getting red...usually when I come to school from outside (where its cold), my eyes start getting this "burny" feeling. It eases down but my eyes sometimes get red and it's annoying. I guess I'll go get it checked out. Or maybe I should just go to the pharmacy and get eye drops? I'm pretty sure that's what the doctor is gonna perscribe anyway.
When I was younger, living in Brazil still, I had begun to develop signs of Rheumatic fever in my left knee. Rheumatic fever is something that if spread can often interfere with blood flow as well as your heart valves. Originally the doctors thought I might have to have my leg amputated (cut off) to prevent it from affecting the rest of my body. However, several months in injections and treatment managed to contain it and I'm happy to say it's no longer a problem.

My doctor's been my life long doctor and he's cool so he gives it to me straight.

Don't mess around with diabetes, and shed those pounds.
i already have, because i took a test before but wasnt the real test and i scored high on that one so i started to like eat healthy avoid soda and all that stuff, i lost about 10 pounds in 3 weeks
Careful with your eyes. A guy I knew woke up one morning with blurry vision and within a week had his right eyeball taken out. A tumor had grown behind his eyeball and as a result he now has a fake eyeball in his right eye. Now it's putting added stress on his left eye and within 30 years he'd be blind in both. Really sad considering he's just 18.
