Some more player rankings to chew on for you: Preseason rankings Here's the list. Click the above link for more comments about each player: Dwyane Wade Dirk Nowitzki LeBron James Kobe Bryant Kevin Garnett Shawn Marion Elton Brand Steve Nash Yao Ming Tim Duncan Gilbert Arenas Paul Pierce Allen Iverson Dwight Howard Chris Bosh Chauncey Billups Vince Carter Shaquille O'neal Tracy McGrady Michael Redd Most underrated on this list, in my opinion, is McGrady. Perhaps he's taking into account potential for injuries, but if McGrady can be healthy for most of the year I'd rather have him than half the players on this list. I think he also overrated Shawn Marion. I don't know, I just have a feeling that if the Suns lost Marion for an extended period of time, it wouldn't impact them nearly as much as if they lose Steve Nash.
The list is wack just base on his opinion that Shawn Marion ranks higher than Tim Duncan and Steve Nash.
Marion and Yao are a couple spots too high. I'd maybe only move Yao 1-3 spots, but Marion imo is WAY to high. He is a great stat filler, but as a player he isn't really a top ten guy. Other than that, great list.
I agree with everyone who says Marion is too high. He's a nice player, but without Nash and D'antoni's uptempo offense he wouldn't be putting up the numbers he does. He's simply not a guy who can create his own shot, something that every player in the top 10 on that list can do besides him. I wish he would change that ugly ass J and maybe place the ball somewhere above his cranium when he shoots. It's a shame to see his hops go to waste on that hideous jumper.
Why's Marion too high? He does a little bit of everything but assist. He's gonna shoot a good clip from the floor. He makes treys. He's a beast on the boards. He's a great defensive player (note his 2.0 spg and 1.7 bpg). He does everything. Oh, and to JoeJohnson02, I don't know exactly why you say he wouldn't do much without Nash. You obviously know nothing about him. If you look at his stats, you'll notice that he did great before Nash ever came to Phoenix. Just take a look at the two years before Nash came. Averages of 19.0 and 21.2 ppg, 45.2% and 44% from the floor, 9.3 and 9.5 rpg, 141 and 90 treys made on 39% and 34%. Yea, he was good before Nash came. It's not just the offense that they ran, it's cause he is a good player. And actually, he is a guy that can create his own shot. He's got loads of athletic ability and he's quite good at getting to the rim. So please, before you criticize, maybe you should know a thing or two about him instead of just that he's got an ugly jump shot that still goes in a lot more than yours probably ever will.
I hear you Moo, but do you honestly believe that he's better than the MVP of the league? I can't really argue with his two years before Nash arrived, but I just don't think he should be in the top 10 of the league. He's a solid player who puts up some pretty good numbers, but to say he's better than Nash, Brand, Arenas, and even Bosh is ridiculous to me. He's a guy who picks up points on the break and can spot up from three, but he DOES NOT create his own shot. Yes, occasionaly he can slash to the basket, but if you watched the playoffs 2 years ago when they played the spurs it was pretty obvious that he's incapable of scoring unless he's pretty much wide open. And as for my shot, it's actually pretty nice, elbow in and all that. At least admit that Marion's shot looks like how you used to shoot when you were in 5th grade. Guess I'm just not as big of a fan of Marion as you are. I can respect what you're saying, but I can also disagree.
I would make the following changes: Duncan > Yao Shaq > Carter and Billups LeBron and Kobe > Dirk Nowitzki
I'm guessing the logic behind Nowitzki being #2 is he took the Mavs to the finals. Similarly, Wade is #1 because his team won the finals. I do agree though that Nowitzki is rated a little high.
I think Paul Pierce should be a little bit higher. Keep in mind that he's putting up the sick numbers he is with guys like Ricky Davis and Wally as his sidekick. It's also nice to see Mike Redd up there My biggest gripe, though, is Timmah's ranking. He's #10? Behind Yao, who's done nothing outside of the fantasy world. Are you ****ing kidding me? Tim Duncan should never be lower than #5 on any list of the best players in the NBA. When that man is healthy, he's probably the best player in the league. Not LeBron, not Wade, not Kobe. Duncan dominates-absolutely dominates-scoring in the paint, making plays for teammates, and can almost single-handedly defend the paint. #10 is a hilariously low ranking, even coming off an injury-plagued year. What have you done for me lately, eh?

Word is he's in the best shape of his life. And the Spurs are planning on playing him primarily at center this season, where according to 82games.com he's put up his biggest numbers. His overall per game numbers may not appear stellar due to playing only 34-35 minutes a night and on a slow-paced Spurs team, but I expect he'll be one of the best (if not the best) big men in the game this year. All the talk about who's the best center focuses on Shaq, Yao, Amare, and Dwight ... but Duncan may need to be added to that mix. If the Spurs do make him a full-fledged center this season, he automatically becomes the best center in the game in my view. I agree, the guy is top 5 (along with Kobe, Wade, LeBron, and Garnett ... not necessarily in that order). I'd put Nowitzki right after those 5.

I didn't mean to freak out there in my post, it's just pretty annoying to see all these writers and "experts" forgetting so quickly what a dominant player he is. What a difference a year makes, huh? LOL
