Excellent movie. I figured the movie would end on a depressing note, but it actually didn't. However, the movie throughout was thouroughly depressing until the end. However, it doesn't take away from the fact that it was still a damn good movie.

NTC, did you know that David Ayer (the writer of Harsh Times and Training Day), actually wrote the script for Harsh Times way before Training Day? Nobody was interested in it though, so he changed some things up and Training Day was born.

I would go as far to say that Bale's performance is right up there with Denzel's.

Why was there so much hype around this? It wasn't that much funnier than Talladega Nights, which wasn't funny outside of a few select parts.

Hell yeah, haha. He's a phenomenal actor who doesn't get the credit he deserves. I admire any person who devotes themselves to their work, I don't know if there is a harder working actor than Bale. He dropped like 93 pounds for the Machinist and gained over 100, mainly muscle, for Batman.

Did you actually see The Machinist? Dude looked like nothing more than skin and bones. Plus, he did a kick ass job in that movie as well. Personally, I love Bale. He does great in every role he's put in. He was great as Batman/Bruce Wayne, awesome in The Prestige, but to me, the one that sticks out the most was his role in American Psycho. His portrayal of a sociopathic, stone cold killer is right up there with Hopkins portrayal of Hannibal Lector.

My favorite movie of all-time. Russell Crowe defies brilliancy in this role.

Maximus: [after swiftly dispatching another gladiator] Are you not entertained? Are you not entertained? Is this not why you are here?

    ^That scene is absolutely amazing.

American Psycho was the first DVD I ever hired (they mixed it up with Any Given Sunday, go figure). He was crazy bad ass in that movie.

Then I hadn't seen him until Batman, and since I have seen The Prestige and the Machinest. He is a great actor and Mamba is right he doesn't get the credit.

He looked sickly in The Machinest.

It's quite better IMO. Denzel didn't deserve the Oscar that year, Sean Penn did.

I saw this back when it was on MTV and just rented it. It's a pretty good movie about heroin abuse at a high school. It's based on a true story about kids in Plano, Texas as well.

To me, this was really an average movie. The acting was corny and it was very predictable. The only thing saving it from a 4 was the battle scenes and the cinematography

I do agree, I didn't want to voice that though. Some people here, and no...not you NTC, are in love with Denzel's performance in that. I didn't want to spark a debate in this thread. I felt Denzel's acting in that movie was way overrated. I prefer watching him in Man on Fire.

I noticed people are very mixed on 300. Not here at least. Some say it is the movie of the year, others say it is a cheese fest with good fight scenes. I'll have to judge for myself when it hits DVD as I don't think I'll be paying full price at the theaters.

Yea, I'm watching it tomorrow on Imax. Looking forward to it, because the feedback I've gotten has been split pretty evenly.

The feedback I got was also split. The only reason I went to see it is because I had some issues with Best Buy, for the first time in my life, so they gave me a free movie ticket to go see it. I utilized it. The fight scenes were great, but that's about all that was great.

It doesn't hold against Gladiator, which is what people tell me it compares to.

I've never watched the movie, but the wikipedia article I read about it said that it was explicitly pornographic and got panned almost universally by critics. Just interested to know why you think it is so good.

    I Think I Love My Wife - 6/10

Some funny parts, a lot of corny parts. I guess it was a good message at the end.

Anyway, it was just a way for me to waste 2+ hours of my life. I'm glad I only paid $5 on bootleg.

    I saw 300 today.

    10/10.

I absolutely loved it. I mean, the fighting scenes were incredible, but I didn't find anything wrong with the storyline. It was a bit like Spartan propaganda, but I thought they did a great job of getting into that mentality. The narration was pretty cool and it just gets you pumped up. The best take on the Battle of Thermopylae Ive ever seen, even if it was exaggerated a lot. I actually like it more than Gladiator. Gerard Butler > Russell Crowe.

Anyway, Caligula is a gross movie. I would also like to know why Sasha liked it.

Say what you may, but I loved the movie. It was pretty kiddy and what not, but I could have cared less. This movie made me feel like a kid again, and I don't really consider that a bad thing. The movie was rather funny, the action sequences were simply amazing (especially the Raph/Leo fight), the CG was some of the best I've ever seen (rain effects = awesome), and in the end, it lived up to my expectations and then some.
