    *mild spoilers* Spider-Man 3

I still can't believe they got the guy off the 70s show (the geeky star wars kid) to play Venom. In the cartoons, Venom was a big tough buff guy. The hob goblin was so lame. They killed off Harry just to be original, and the scene where he died was so wack. The actual symbiote/venom was tyte, but needed more screen play.

I thought they did a good job on the Sandman. He's not that great of a villain or that interesting for that matter, but they got the right guy. The scene where Peter forgave him was cheesy. I was like, why don't they hug and end the movie there.[/sarcasm]

During the scene where Harry kissed MJ, people were like OOOOO, I shouted out WHORE!...everyone got a laugh out of it.

I want to see the Lizard and Carnage/Venom in the next one. Toby is a punk...at first he didn't want to do a 4th one because he didn't want to be just known as Spider-man. Now he's saying he'll only do it if Raimi is on board because he knows Raimi doesn't want to do another one.

Wrong. Toby will only do it with Raimi because they've got a great friendship. Also, Raimi does want to do another one and reports are he's already thinking of his villains, with Lizard being one.

Either way though, Sony pictures has stated they'd like to make 3 more, with or without Raimi, Maguire, Dunst, etc. It's a great franchise and it's popular. For the most part, the movies are decent and single-handedly revived the comic book genre, so why not.

    Dirty Harry 9/10

Directed by Don Siegel, Starring Clint Eastwood.

"Well, do you feel lucky... Punk?"
If you have seen this line before, and wondered where it came from... It comes from this movie, "Dirty Harry". It stars Clint Eastwood as inspector Harry Callahan AKA "Dirty Harry". Dirty Harry works the streets of San Francisco, and often, no not often, always disregards standard police procedure. He cares more for the victim than the assailant's rights, so he in essence, takes things real personal. Real personal. a .44 Magnum is Harry's weapon of choice in the Dirty Harry films. I enjoyed this movie, the character Eastwood plays, the grittiness, the wisecracking lines uttered by Harry. This movie was made in 1971, so If you have a hard time watching old movies, this one may be a bit dated for you. Otherwise I highly recommend it. It was so good and popular that 4 Dirty Harry sequels were made.

    Alpha Dog 7/10

Written and Directed by Nick Cassavetes, starring Justin Timberlake, Ben Foster, Shawn Hatosy, Emile Hirsch, Christopher Marquette, Sharon Stone, and Bruce Willis.

    * copied from the DVD description*

They grew up togother in the suburbs of LA, living their own version of the American dream, with every day a blur of partying and looking for the next thrill. Johnny(Emile Hirsch) Is the leader of their sordid world of drugs, greed, power and privilege. But when he is double-crossed by another dealer, things quickly begin to spiral out of control, and an imipulsive kidnapping leads to a shocking conclusion.

    *End descirption*

The characters portrayed by Hirsch, Timberlake and others are quite believable. Timberlake is a pretty good actor, even if typecast. I really liked the direction this movie took, from a high life to chaos. Emotions run high in this film, and characters' anger is really well portrayed and acted out. There is nothing soft about this film, even if I had a ho-hum feeling towards the end. I am rating it a 7/10, due to it not being too rewatchable in my opinion.

Recommended rental, but if street life full of weed smoking, drinking and swearing turns you off, steer clear of this film.

    *Movie discussion about Ryan Gosling*
When you see or have seen Half Nelson, I highly recommend The United States of Leland. I recommended Fracture to my Dad without ever seeing it (how can you go wrong with Gosling AND Anthony Hopkins?) and based on a review in the paper, and my Dad said it was really good. I look forward to seein it open captioned or on DVD. (I am deaf so I require some sort of captioning or subtitling to fully enjoy a film)

Spidey 3. 7/10 I thought they could have did a hell of a better job utilizing venom. There was so little character development with the villains it sucked.

A Little Trip To Heaven 8/10

Directed by Baltasar Kormakur, starring Julia Stles, Forest Whitaker, Jeremy Renner and Peter Coyote.

Forest Whitaker plays Abe Holt, an insurance agent investigating a death that is suspicious. I stated watching this film expecting it to be just above or at a decent level of quality to watch. The cover art and the description made it seem like it would be above average. I was pleased to find myself enjoying this drama of defrauding the insurance company, selfishness and selfless sacrifice. The world of insurance claim adjusters and scammers is darkly shady, and I am sure is a big business on both ends. It was interesting to see Peter Coyote in this film, even if it was a minor role. Forest Whitaker plays the Abe Holt character really well, and Julia Stiles is equally as good in this film.

Recommeded if you enjoy heavy dramas.

    Bale kicks ass like always.

Perfectly sums up all of the Spiderman movies IMO; overrated, horrible acting, bad plot, not worth the money. I can't understand why people like them unless they are fans of the comic books or something.

Spiderman is overrated. But the action is great if u forget about them not utilizing all the characters. But yeah Venom should've had a story line of his own.

    Spiderman 3: 9/10

I was pleasantly surprised after expecting the worst for the past week. During the movie, I was wavering between 6, 7, and 8's and originally thought they could have eliminated either the 2nd Goblin or the Sandman and it would've been better. But I liked how it wrapped up. I wasn't a fan of "emo Spidey" or Eddie Brock, but when Eddie got the symbiote he was awesome and I thought they did a good job with all that romantic stuff. The action scenes were simply incredible. Really acrobatic stuff that was true Spiderman. The movie lost a mark for cheesy/implausible scenes (the homo-erotic butler scene, MJ breaking up with Peter, the Bollywood-esque dance in the jazz club, the "God Bless America" scene, etc.), but none of them were bad enough to detract from the movie. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and hope to see a lot more Venom in the next movie (I'd like to see him as the sole villain).

Spider-Man 3 sucked if you want to put it on a Spider-Man series scale, but as a normal movie it was entertaining to say the least. The truth it, they could have made it a lot better since it had Venom.

I couldn't stand it when Harry was so damn nice. I thought he started talking fruity, it sounded like he had a lisp. That scene with MJ-Harry making eggs should have been edited out.

Next, I'm watching the Departed and then probably Disturbia. I hate having to go to redbox...I miss my video store job now.

    Find Me Guilty 8/10

Directed by Sidney Lumet, starring Vin Diesel.

This movie is one of my favorites to watch. It is based on actual court testimony from a HUGE trial where the US government prosecutes an entire criime family in Jersey. There are hilarous moments, and very candid moments also. Vin Diesel does maybe his best acting in this movie.

Recommended rental. I was lucky enough to pick this up for $3.00 used(had seen it a year ago so I knew it was worth buying).

    Hang 'Em High 7/10

    Starring Clint Eastwood.

This is the first movie Eastwood made in america, and it is pretty good, worth renting or watching on cable.

    Fracture 8/10

Starring Anthony Hopkins and Ryan Gosling.

This is basically a court case, where Hopkins murders his wife, and Gosling is the prosecutor in the case. Basically, it is Hopkins vs. Gosling, and that is worth the price of admission. I saw this Open Captioned in the theater, and I highly recommend it if you can catch it, or when it comes to DVD. Gosling is up and coming, and on the up and up, and this movie cements that in my mind. Hopkins is brilliantly diabolical, as always.

    Babel 6/10

Directed by Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu, Starring Brad Pitt, Cate Blanchett, Gael Garcia Bernal, and Rinko Kikuchi.

I enjoyed this film, although coming from Inarritu, it was just sadly predictable. Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu is the brilliant director of Amores Perros (Love is a Bitch), and 21 Grams. What he does cliched, or repeats in his films is, creating stories centered around one single indicent. It worked GREAT in Amores Perros, worked okay in 21 Grams, but with Babel, it felt like he was beating a dead horse. If he does it a fourth time, I will be disappointed.

Rinko Kikuchi does a really good job as the deaf asian girl in the film. My sister was watching it with me and commented on how the director went back and forth using sound, and then no sound when trying to show how the world is for a deaf person, all visual with zero sound. This makes me wonder if Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu has a deaf relative, or really did his research for this character in his film.

Recommended rental if you haven't seen Amores Perros. Amores Perros is easily Inarritu's BEST film.

300- Liked it alot. It may be too cliche at times, but the action and overall makeup of the movie made up for it. 8/10

Spiderman 3- Like I`ve been saying, if you want to be entertained, go see it. There was just too many plots and you really couldn`t lock onto that one solid story like in the first two movies. The whole emo Spidey and him dancing in the street had me thinking how was this movie in a trilogy with Spiderman 1 and 2. I do wish there was more Venom and less Sandman, and maybe a little more of New Goblin. Compared to the first 2 movies, I do think this is sort of a letdown. 7/10

I never bit into the Fight Club hype. American History X is an amazing movie, much better than Romper Stomper. As for FC, I thought it was overhyped trash to be honest with you.

    The Jack Bull 8/10

Starring John Cusack, John C. McGinley, and John Goodman.

A western about a man done wrong, and refusing to let it go until justice is served. Cusack plays Myrl Redding, a horse rancher who has 2 of his horses badly treated by a greedy landowner, and the movie is about Redding getting justice for it. The term 'Jack Bull' is what a character coins Redding. It is based off the idea of crossing a Jack Russell Terrier and a Pit Bull. A Jack Russell Terrier, when riled up is diffluct to calm down, and a Pit Bull, once it locks its jaws has to be pried open with tools to have it let go. Hence, John Cusack/Myrl Redding is the 'Jack Bull'. This movie is a western, yet there aren't too many deaths like found in a typical western, or gunfights. This is more a poltical movie, and it is well done in that sense. John Goodman plays a judge in Cheyenne, Wyoming who handles Redding's trial. I recommend this movie to anyone who enjoys a good story about justice and what must be done sometimes to attain it.

    When Harry Met Sally 8/10

Directed by Rob Reiner, starring Billy Crystal, Meg Ryan, Bruno Kirby and Carrie Fisher.

This is a very entertaining drama between two people who at first do not like each other, and the hot topic is sex. This story chronicles a friendship over about 10 oe 15 years, and how it grows. Highly recommended if you can enjoy a drama/comedy, a dramedy a some will call it.

    Seraphim Falls 9/10

Directed by David Von Ancken, starring Liam Neeson, Pierce Brosnan, and Anjelica Huston.

This is basically a whole movie that chronicles a chase, a manhunt. Pierce Brosnan plays the hunted, and plays it emphatically well. Brosnan plays Gideon, a former Union captain of the Civil War who has gone west to leave his brutal, bloody past behind. Liam Neeson plays Carver, an ex-confedrate colonel out to hunt Gideon down. Technically, this is a western, but isn't heavily one, in my opinion. The settings, weapons, horseriding make it a western. The chase is enagaing, and I love how this movie does something different. Most movies that take you in take you in for the whole ride. Seraphim Falls does something very different, and may be a result of the first time director, Von Ancken. What Seraphim Falls does different is it takes you in, engulfs you into its action and chase, and then lets you go. At first, I did not like this, but upon retrospect, I found it a very fitting way to end such a hectic manhunt.

Brosnan plays a very cunning Gideon, a master killer that is slippery as a eel and ready to kill in a blink. There are a few scenes of brilliant acting and directing in this movie with Gideon. Neeson plays a very determined and unrelenting Carver who can only see one thing in front of him, and that is Gideon. I am not going to proclaim this movie Brosnan's best, because I am sure Brosnan has done better roles, but I don't think Brosnan has ever been non-Brosnanian as in this film. In the beginning, I went "that is Peirce Brosnan", but as the movie progressed, Brosnan really got into character, and I completely forgot it was Brosnan at many points in the film. Neeson was Neeson, yet better than decent.

Recommended for fans of manhunt or western films.

    The Fountain 9/10

Written by Darren Aronofsky and Ari Handel, Directed by Darren Aronofsky, starring Hugh Jackman, Rachel Weisz, and Ellen Burstyn.

    *copied from DVD description*
Yesterday, today, tomorrow, past, present, future. Through time and space, one man embarks on a 1000 year oddysey to defeat humankind's most indomitable foe: Death.
    *end description*

This is Aronofsky's third movie (Pi, Requiem For A Dream), and he delivers. Aronofsky does not rush and make as many films as possible, thus not succumbing into the void of Hollywood directing. Aronofsky takes his time to make truly great films, and The Fountain is his latest display of brilliance. Hugh Jackman and Rachel Weisz are incredible in this film, and espeically Jackman. Pay close attention to the dialogue and events in this film, or you will be left perplexed. Basically the story is about Death being the road to awe.

Recommended for ethereal and fantasy fans.
