    Hinrich: "The Clocks Ticking"

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Hinrich mystery revealed: At the Bulls? tipoff luncheon Friday, Chris Duhon grabbed the microphone and taunted teammate Kirk Hinrich, asking him to share his two pieces of good news with the audience.

Hinrich confirmed one noteworthy event ? he recently got engaged. But the other tidbit remains a mystery.

Asked if there was anything new to report on a contract extension, Hinrich said no.

?The clock is ticking,? he said.

Hinrich and the Bulls have until Tuesday to agree on an extension, otherwise the fourth-year guard becomes a restricted free agent next summer.</div>

There is no way we let one of the top point guards in the league go. In my opinion the best defensive point guard. Im not worried If we win the title this year everyones stock is gonna raise making it a hard summer for pax in 07. But lets look towards this season wich is full of hope.

    Go Bulls!!!

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Bulls general manager John Paxson and Kirk Hinrich had a frank discussion regarding Hinrich's contract extension on the team's flight home from Minnesota late Wednesday.

The talk gave Hinrich hope, not to mention an even greater sense of urgency to sign by Tuesday's deadline.

But another day of negotiations Saturday between Paxson and Hinrich's agent, Jeff Austin, ended with the same result?no deal. Money remains the sticking point, though movement has happened on both sides.

When Chris Kaman signs his five-year, $52 million extension with the Clippers on Sunday, Hinrich really will be alone as the most significant member of the 2003 draft class not to sign an extension.

Hinrich would become a restricted free agent if he doesn't sign by Tuesday, allowing the Bulls to match any offers he receives next off-season. Milwaukee is the only one of three teams with significant cap room that needs a point guard.

Hinrich can sign a six-year extension next summer but would like to eliminate the distraction and sign the right five-year deal.</div>
