<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">LOS ANGELES (AP) -- The Clippers signed center Chris Kaman to a multiyear contract extension Saturday that begins with the 2007-08 season.

The 7-footer averaged 11.9 points, 9.6 rebounds (ninth in the league) and 1.38 blocks in 78 games last season. In 11 playoff games, he averaged 10.7 points and 8.0 rebounds.

Entering his fourth NBA season, the 24-year-old Kaman was set to become a restricted free agent following the upcoming season. The Clippers held the right of first refusal.

"We are absolutely thrilled to ensure that Chris will be here and staying with the Clippers for a long time to come," general manager Elgin Baylor said. "He is one of the best young big men in the league and we feel that he will just continue to get better." </div>

Donald Sterling has done a complete 180 on retaining his free agents. Kaman thank Mike Dunleavy Sr. for getting this deal done. Dunleavy wanted to make sure Kaman and Elgin Baylor received contract extensions, before he agreed to continue coaching the ClipShow.

The deal is 5 years $52.5M with an incentive clause to bring it to $55M, plus a 15% trade kicker.
