I expected a trade for this valueable guy. But never thought he'd be waived.

He wasnt going to play much minutes with us and he isnt that valuable to us. He could score but not like our other guards. He's probably going to the Lakers.

Great move. Now we're forced to let him expire. With this move the Knicks lose 60 million this season.

Would you not prefer a buyout? I'm guessing it was unreachable though. I don't see this as a great move, but as a good one. By waiving him, it's unlikely that anyone will claim him, meaning that the Knicks will pay his full salary. Though without Rose, the backcourt more minutes are more clear for Marbury, Franics, Crawford and Nate.

And how is it 60 million? I'm not quite sure if his salary counts against the cap/luxury tax, but if it doesn't then that's only ~34 mill.

Trade Crawford to us for Porno and Fred Jones [IMG]

Edit: Nevermind, I just heard that they bought him out firs then waived him.

Wow, that must've been the first time Isiah's resisted the urge to add to the payroll with an expiring contract. Definitely a good move, although that trade last year really doesn't look so great right now.

Since we didn't use the "Allan Houston Rule" on Allan Houston, we are still paying for his contract which expires this year. That's about 21 million and Shandon Anderson is 8.5 million. Rose is 17 million and Taylor is about 10 million. That all adds up to 56 million, though I thought more was expiring. Miscalculation on my part.

Without Rose, as mentioned, we have more minutes for Marbury, Francis, Robinson, and Crawford. We also don't have to worry about the possiblity of bitching from him.

I think the trade was moreso for the first rounder (#20) we got from the Raptors.

Oh my bad, I thought you were just reffering to the Rose deal that added up to 60 million saved somehow.

He probably wouldn't start for the Lakers, would he?

'Cuz im thinking ... Jalen+Kobe+Odom comparable to Kidd+Carter+Jefferson.

Yea, I suppose, although they did kind of waste the oppurtunity. In the end it's not as big a deal for the Knicks as any other team, I guess. A salary coming off a year early still doesn't make enough of a difference, cap-wise.

Rose wouldn't have been happy with his role, and it would have caused problems on the team, so it's definately a good move.

Jalen Rose needs to do the smart thing here and follow the Tim Thomas blueprint. Sign with the Phoenix Suns, have an impact in the post-season, and cash in during the summer on the success of those games.

I don't think Jalen Rose will have nearly as big an impact as Tim Thomas did. The Suns lack big players, Tim Thomas could defend PFs and Centers.

I don't know if Jalen can defend PFs or Cs.
