<div class="quote_poster">durvasa Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Are you referring to this article which looked at the officiating in game 5 in detail? I'll quote the conclusion of that article: Perhaps you are talking about another analysis, but this one is only pertaining to game 5. And the conclusion was that the ref's "bad calls" favored the Heat by about 5-6 points. But does this point to a bias towards the Heat, or perhaps the effects of home court advantage? That's not clear. And are these results, collected from one game, an indication of a general bias towards the Heat? As article says, the statistical evidence for this is "non-existent". In my opinion, the help Wade got in the series is no more than the help any slasher has gotten since the NBA rule changes. The difference is Wade was just relentless in the Finals going to the basket and drawing fouls, so he got a ton of calls. I don't think it was a case of favoritism or a different standard for Wade, if that's what you're suggesting. The way he plays just takes advantage of the "no touch" policy the NBA has instituted for perimeter/wing players.</div> Right, but to decide the outcome of Game 5, an NBA Finals game, based on a phantom foul, is ridiculous. The ending was horrible. Game 6 was dubious as well. The Finals was spoiled by this. A Game seven should have been in order. Heh, it's a lost cause to go on about this anyway.

Don't blame Wade. Whether it was intended as a diss or not, it was presented to Wade as a diss by reporters. If you have to blame anyone, it's either Dirk for making that comment, or the media for taking it out of context. I don't know where Dirk is coming from either way. Their defense was focussed on Wade, not Shaq. Shaq was, for the most part, covered 1-on-1 by Diop or Dampier. Wade tore them up when Shaq was out also (which was mostly in crunch-time where his free-throw shooting was a liability). Wade was double and triple-teamed at all times, but he still ripped apart that defense.

I don't think the Mav did a good job defending D-Wade. It was like they don't have any plans before game to contain him. I believe the Mav's focus was still Shaq and their plan was to contain the other guys and let Wade tortured whoever guarding him. Nonetheless, Wade putted up an impressive performance. back to Dirk...Dirk knows better than us period. He must know his team's plan than you guys.
That was harsh Wade, I liked him his senior year at Marquette and his rookie year, but ever since Shaq came to Miami...hopefully Wade won't end up being like Shaq (shaq it's KINGS, not queens...still upset bout those days, yes a little bit). Dirk is awesome, but I like Wade's commercial...the falling one...
Im thinking that maybe Dirk was jealous about how some people even consider Wade the best player in the present and all that jazz. And it probably was because of his Finals performance. Dirk, probably out of jealousy is trying to say "Wade isn't as good as they make him sound" because we doubled and focused more on Shaq. But, I dont blame Wade for the smart comment. I'd do the same.

Simple comments are always getting overblown. Dirk made a passing comment, something you hear all the time, about his team not playing up to their abilities in stopping Wade. Of course, the reporter is going to twist that, try to create some drama, and wring out a nice quote from Wade. And Dwyane obliged -- probably half jokingly. Really, who cares?

Dallas’ Dirk Nowitzki became the latest victim after Friday’s practice. Wade was asked about the ESPN interview in which Nowitzki seemed to hint Dallas allowed Wade to slice through its defense rather than Wade doing with his own ability. Wade said he saw the interview, then remarked, “We’re having a ring ceremony Tuesday and they’re not, so thanks, Dirk.”</div> In a way, Dirk got the last laugh, they got smashed by 42 points after that ring ceremony.

I'll take a 42 point loss to one of the biggest contenders if I have a ring. It's not a laugh at all. Wade played a brilliant game, his team sucked it up. There is no doubt that the Heat will make the playoffs, I just hope they meet the mavs.
I mean in that, Wade was gloating about being champions, then they went out and got hammered by 42 points, not a very "champion" like performance, was it?

In fact, one could call the touchy offensive foul committed on Terry if one is going to call the foul that occurred on the baseline. He also palmed the ball. You should try watching it.
