<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Jason Kidd shot 18.6% from the floor during the preseason, but that doesn't deter him from believeing he can play like he was 29 or 30 again. The reason: the arrival of Marcus Williams should mean fewer minutes for the captain. IF he can learn to play consistent defense, says Kidd, "He?s going to be a really good one, and a lot earlier than anyone expects." Meanwhile, Josh Boone has begun shooting and reports he has put on 18 pounds of muscle while rehabbing from shoulder surgery. Who knew? </div>

Like he said if he's on the court for 30 minutes, then he'll give them 30 minutes of hell. If his minutes do com down it would give Kidd the opportunity to be a lot more aggressive knowing he doesn't have to save himself to be able to play 40 minutes or more. They said Kidd might average single digits in scoring for the first time, I think it's the other way around.

please....average a triple double?? hey why not a quadrouple double while hes at it. jason kidd is still a top teir point gaurd in this league, but when i think of players that give teams hell, hes not really one of them any more.

Jason kidd's value is more than what you think. From a standpoint of the teams, players and coaches themselves, Jason Kidd is one hell of a threat. What you think you might know about the game is very superficial. You and a lot of us has barely scratched the surface of what a team owner or a coach really thinks of what a valuable player is. Your knowledge and idea of what makes a player great is very general and very vague. You might think that a player who scores a lot is what a team always looks for. Or that it is the bar they set to determine a players value. Maybe in amateur league's or in the streets. This is the NBA. It is league of proffessionals. It is more than just entertainment. It is a business. The NBA is not about who can jump the highest or who makes the most amazing dunks. Michael Jordan was more than his aerial acrobats, Magic was more than his no-look passes and Larry Bird was more than his 3 pointers. They were team players. What they brought to the table was more than just scoring. They played through injury, dove for loose balls, sacrificed their bodies to take the charge, in short, they were willing to do the dirty work. While you are awed by a player who jumps high, who score's a lot, it is not what makes a great player.[IMG]

I'd love it, absolutely love it to see Jason Kidd average a triple-double this season. Will he do it? I wouldn't bet too much on it.

AMS ice that's deep, i enjoyed it. i still think kidd is one of the best and can control games. kidd triple double, hm, i think he'll come short on the rebounds, but points and assists, back to double doubles, yeah. i wish i had him on my fantasy team, dang! haha, i picked the nets to win the east last year before the playoffs, boy was i wrong, maybe this is their year (i want sixers though...im dreaming i know...)

i have said this before, imo a GREAT player is someone who can literally control the outcome of the game just by sheer will. i dont care if thats by scoring, shooting 3's, rebounding, passing, or shutting down the opposing teams best player. vince carter is a good player because of his scoring, but not great because his will does not dominate the game. jason kidd was once an amazing player, and still is good, but i dont think a statline of 8 pts, 7 rbs, 7 asts, and a steal are really giving a team hell.(just my predictions for this season) the one thing that kidd still has going for him is his "will" to win, which in my opinion is why most people think hes still a top pg. i just dont see how kidd is statistically going to be a great player any more with carter and williams backing him up at the point.

How much did Boone weigh before? I don't know if he needed to put on that much weight, but let's hope it doesn't affect him negatively.

About Kidd and the triple double, that's hopeful thinking, but even Oscar in a time of A LOT of shots being taken needed about 45+ MPG to get his triple double season, so it's not a realistic goal.

[IMG] It'll be funny if he got injured and didn't play anymore games this season so he could keep his triple double. [IMG]

Then you said it. Kidd does that, he score's when needed, he passes, he rebounds, he plays "D", and he is one of the hardest working player in the NBA. But wait, then you say that Kidd's stats won't "give hell to teams"? But your definitions of a great player are that of Kidd's. So what are you saying? Your contradicting your own statements. [IMG]

(Nets win opener vs. Raptors - Jason Kidd 14 pts. 10 reb. 10 ast. in 34 mins.)

Good job Carter. See what you started.

Wouldn't it be funny if Carter actually started driving in instead of taking pointless jumpshots?
