If the Lakers were under the salary cap and you are the gm of the team. What would be best player you pick to join the Lakers and help them on the journey to the NBA FInals

Your question is somewhat tricky. Even if you're under the cap, you gotta ask the player if they want to play here to begin with, but I think they will. Who wouldn't want to play for LA?

any of these guys can't go wrong: KG, Tim Duncan, Yao Ming, Dirk, Elton Brand, Dwight Howard, Bosh, etc...But realistically none of them will play here because they are lock with their respective franchises. Now realistically, a potential free agents that I think we have a chance at acquiring in the near future (meaning 07, 08) are KG & Ron Artest. So if I'm a Lakers' gm, I try to acquire Ron Artest first and have a run at KG through a sign & trade second.

LO, Kwame, Cook for KG [IMG]

    potential future starting lineup:
    PG: Jalen Rose
    SG: Kobe Bryant
    SF: Ron Artest
    PF: KG
    C: Andrew Bynum

    Bench
    PG: Jordan Farmar/Sasha
    SG: Mo Evans
    SF: Luke Walton/Vlad
    PF: Vlad/Ronny
    C: Mihm

    instant championship!!! [IMG]

There's only three players I'd want. Tim Duncan, Kevin Garnett, or Dwight Howard.

I wouldnt want Tim Duncan he's getting old and is at the end of his career. Dwight Howard will become one of the dominant big man in this league and he's very young still. Kg is the answer for La.

I heard that the Heat is interested in signing Jalen Rose

Apart from the players mentioned, Shaq and Alonzo Mourning would also mean serious contention for a championship. A combination of the two for the whole duration of the game is extremely beneficial to the guards.

    PG- Kirk Hinrich

    PF- Drew Gooden
    C- Tyson Chandler

    Bench:

    PG
    Daniel Ewing

    SG

    SF
    Luke Walton

    PF
    Kenny Thomas
    Matt Bonner
    Channing Frye

    C
    Jeff Foster

I think that team would be under the salary cap and do fairly well. Each player seems like they would fit great in the Triangle.

what are the chances of getting Dwight Howard. A Kobe + Dwight combo would be deadly..

In fact, just get Shaq back and get Jermaine O'Neal. That's what I would do if I was GM. Too bad it can't happen. Also, add T-Mac and get JKidd.
