I heard, I think Doug Collins, say it during last night's game, but Boris Diaw looks a lot heavier this season than the lean driving dunking guy from last season, especially the playoffs. I mean, he looks really out of shape, and I don't think he'll play that great if he doesn't lose the weight. Anybody notice the same?
I did, but I think the more important thing would be for him to play a little more assertively. He looked like a total wuss last night. He didn't drive, didn't work the boards (quite the opposite actually), and didn't give a lick about getting physical around the rim. Just a bad showing.
I think that's due in part to the whole being heavier thing. Since he's heavier, he can't move as well as he did last year, so when he tries to drive, it's easier for bigs to stop him where as last year he was quick enough to get past them. I just hope he shapes up soon, his body and his game.
I think Boris may have tried to gain a little weight this summer. He did play for the French national team almost the ENTIRE summer. I don't think he is in very poor shape, but I do not like his weight gain. He plays much better at around the 225 pounds he played at last year. I think he looked pretty good last night. It's going to take some players (Diaw, Bell, KT, Amare) time to integrate together but we must have patience. When this team learns to play together in about 20-25 games or so they will be deadly!!!

He looks a little puffier, but he's still blowing by his defender at will. I just think the Suns are a little rusty to start the season, and their spacing isn't what they would like it to be at this point. Diaw might also feel some pressure because of the contract he just signed, and possibly losing minutes to Amare once he becomes healthy. He doesn't have the same comfort out there because he could be subbed out at anytime. The lineup with Diaw on the floor with Barbosa and Banks is nasty though. There's no team in the league who can match up with that trio.
