Tonight the undefeated Lakers will fly to the Oracle Arena to face the Golden State Warriors. The Lakers will once again be without Kobe Bryant, also head coach Phil Jackson won't make this road trip and Kurt Rambis will coach in his place. The Warriors always bring their 'A' game against the Lakers, and they are tough to beat in Oakland. With Don Nelson back, the Warriors have shifted back to small-ball and feature a small front court with Mike Dunleavy Jr. at PF and Troy Murphy (who will be playing with a broken nose) at Center. Last night the Lakers pounded the ball relentlessly inside against Phoenix, and tonight they'll have to do more of the same. The difference is, Golden State is a much better rebounding team than Phoenix, especially on the offensive glass. Andrew Bynum had a breakout game last night, and it's going to be interesting to see how he responds tonight. He didn't have to play heavy minutes, which will benefit him against another uptempo team. He'll also have the added responsibility of guarding Troy Murphy out on the perimeter. Last night Kurt Thomas got off some uncontested jumpshots from the baseline, because Bynum was reluctant to step out to defend. He's going to see more of the same tonight from Muphy, who loves to spot up for jumpshots. The Lakers might want to consider playing a little zone tonight to disrupt the Warriors rhythm. The mismatch advantage the Lakers have tonight is Odom being defended by Dunleavy Jr. Odom shredded Phoenix last night for 34 points, and I expect him to have his way against Dunleavy Jr. tonight. With Murphy being the last line of defense, the Warriors don't have any shotblockers inside to contest Odom's shot. Plus if Murphy rotates over, Odom will find Bynum for a wide open dunk underneath.
