This game sees the 1-0 Cleveland Cavaliers take on the 0-0 San Antonio Spurs at the AT&T Center.
Cleveland Cavaliers C Zydrunas Ilgauskas PF Drew Gooden SF LeBron James SG Larry Hughes PG Eric Snow @ C Frabricio Oberto PF Tim Duncan SF Bruce Bowen SG Manu Ginobili PG Tony Parker San Antonio Spurs
Key Matcup LeBron James v Bruce Bowen. v This should be an intriguing matchup as the widely renowned best perimeter defender guards one of the top perimeter attackers. Bruce Bowen will guard LeBron James. LeBron’s average against the Spurs is 26 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists, whilst his career average is 26-6-6, so, as yet, his production has not taken too much of a fall against the Spurs. However, any matchup with Bowen is guaranteed to be tough, and this could be an occasion where LeBron meets his match. Statistically, LeBron will outplay Bowen, but that doesn’t mean he’l have the upper hand. [div=50%] Spurs’ Keys to Victory
[*]Contain LeBron James, keep him quiet and it makes things very, very difficult for the Cavaliers as a team. [*]Utilise Tim Duncan to the fullest extent possible; in terms of post defense, the Cavs will have very little to stop Duncan, so he will be the team’s key scorer. [*]Keep Tony Parker working hard, finding the gaps in the defense. Parker can find the gaps when necessary, and should be able to provide easy opportunities for his team-mates.
[/div] Cavalier’s Keys to Victory
[*]Try to contain Tim Duncan. He will, no doubt, be the key weapon in the vast armoury in San Antonio, but if he is stopped, it will put a dent in the gameplan. [*]Get going early; the Spurs are a very capable team who could shut down any team at any moment. If the momentum goes the Cavs’ way, then there will be problems for the Spurs. [*]Don’t try to push the ball, if they try to play around the Spurs, they will be flattened. If they play basketball their way, they stand a chance.
Prediction It should be a very interesting game, with a lot of interesting matchups. On one side you have Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker whilst on the other you have LeBron James, Larry Hughes and Zydrunas Ilgauskas. The intensity will need to be high from the Cavaliers, whilst the former champion Spurs will be looking to play basketball their way and their way only, making life very difficult indeed. I’d like to say the Cavs will win, but I simply can’t. 82-98
LeBron`s dunk on Timmy was ridiculous. Good win by the Cavs, it shows they can compete with some of the elite teams in the game.
I'm sure that dunk was posted on youtube seconds after it happened.....the Cavs looked great last night (with the exception of FT shooting).....Bron was bron (played great defense also), and Larry Hughes has looked really great on both ends of the floor so far
Nice to see the Cavs win that one, I believe it was their first time winning against the Spurs on the road since '89.
