Is it too early to name Rondo the starter?

I'm not sure what Rondo didn't do in the preseason to not be awarded the starting PG role. Especially against the likes of Chris Paul, the other guy has no chance in this matchup.

I think the whole concept of "starting" is almost pointless anyway. How often do the first 8-10 minutes of a game make much of a difference on the outcome?

There's usually just a "respect factor" in starting, but you're right. Still, I think the energy Rondo comes with should make him very good off the bench. Besides, if he's getting meaningful minutes then it really doesn't make a difference.

I think as long as Rondo gets his minutes, that's fine, but if you watched the first ten minutes of that game, then you know how important those minutes can be. If that team didn't start totally flat footed, we could have run away with that game. I'm sure the score still would have teeter tottered as scores like to do, but with Peja quiet and Chris Paul only playing well in spurts (which, by the way, Doc did find a solution for, in the fourth quarter), that game was more than winnable, especially with Pierce in top form.

I think the fact that Doc only got his players going under that ridiculous high screen in the last quarter of the game is a testament to how inept his game coaching actually is. Everyone says he's still around because he can foster young talent, but that's not proving to be true either, so why does he still coach this team?

I want Danny down on the bench soon, but barring that, let's get someone a little more defensive minded than Doc.

If Doc won't start Rondo he should at least play him in the last 2 minutes

So do you think they'll axe Doc this year?

You may as well fire him now. His inconsistency and his player's lack of respect has made his situation untenable at best. The Celtics won't win with a coach they won't listen to, so let's just get rid of him and call it square.
