After passing over several very good SF prospects over the years, this year we apsolutely have to address the SF position! Dunleavy sucks. Pietrus is a SG and we have filled our C/PF needs. We are solid there and in the guard positions. It is time for a SF! We better either trade for one or draft one...

This draft will be stacked with SFs but also alot of athletic, skilled guys who are between 6'8 and 7'0 so it should we should be able to find a good player for our system. Julian Wright, Thaddeus Young, Kevin Durant, Marcus Williams (from Arizona), Corey Brewer, Brandon Rush are all players with very high potential and decent athleticism. I'd also like to do a trade to get a cheap young SF, something like Zarko (expiring) and a second or the Philly pick for Trevor Ariza, maybe sign James White even though I'm really not a fan of him.

If Pietrus can continue to rebound like he has been the last two games. I think he could possibly become the team's SF; that is if he continues to play clean basketball with limited turnovers and foul trouble.

Realistically I don't know if this is possible due to the current contract situation. I don't know if resigning Pietrus will be possible in particular if he continues to play so well.

If the Dunleavy/Nelson experimenting doesn't work out, and if Murphy is performing below expectations, then maybe there can be a trade sometime later in the season, especially since it's too early to decide to deal Murphy and Dunleavy already is very difficult to move with his contract and BYC status.

The SF candidates mentioned above are each some mix of Potential and raw Hype. None of these has yet had 2 yrs scoring 10+ in college ball. Several are athletic HS guys soon to play their first college game.

Roll back the clock---Oscar Robertson was drafted after 3 straight years scoring over 30 ppg. Larry Bird was top 10 in scoring-RBDS and FG%-and took his team to the Finals. Duncan-Ewing-Olajuwon played 4 yrs had big time stats-much success.

I'd have to say Noah earned a lot of respect...at least he did have a big year as a college player. Ironically-Morris Almond of Rice is one of a very few returning who actually DID score 20 per. One mock site lists him rd 2. You get far more credit-it seems , for what you SHOULD do than what you really do.

In short---it's mostly turned into a guessing game.

As for Pietrus-yeah,he IS doing the job-and is finally in a situation where he can build upon those good things we are seeing. Just because Mullin made mistakes ( Dun-Foyle) does not mean we must lose talent-thus turning bad to worse. We get to match. So we pay some lux tax and don't get to join in any bidding wars for mercenaries on the market.

The Dunleavy solution? Park him. Move on to things we CAN make work.

James White was signed by the Spurs.

Finding a servicable SF shouldn't be too, hard for the Warriors to acquire. There's always an abundance of wing players and the Warriors have pieces to move to land a SF.

I'd keep an eye on the Bulls situation. They have three talented SFs, and I doubt they'll be able to keep all three, Luol Deng, Nocioni, and Thabo Sefolosha.
