<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Joe Smith counted the tall fellows on the team.

"We have a thousand big men," was Smith's assessment.

    He's not that far off.

The Nuggets are as well-stocked with post players as any team in the NBA. They actually have seven, with only four having stepped on the court in the first two games.

Among those who have watched, Jamal Sampson, a practice player who has been inactive, is no surprise. But it's doubtful Smith and Reggie Evans figured they would be parked at the end of the bench wearing Denver boots.

Smith was acquired by the Nuggets in August from Milwaukee for Ruben Patterson. Nuggets coach George Karl then spent two months talking about how Smith fills a void as a perimeter shooter.

Evans re-signed in September, getting a five-year, $23 million deal. One might have considered that an indication he would be in the rotation.

"It's a little surprising," Evans said of his inactivity. "But you've got hurdles in life. When they come at you, you've got to be able to jump it. There's a reason they probably gave me so much money. I've got to be ready when the time presents itself." </div>

I wonder if they will decide to go after a SG or another perimeter player to help out Melo.
