You don't want to do this.

Now put down the letter opener. That's it. Hand over your shoelaces.

OK, now step down here. Slowly.

Everything is going to work out just fine. Promise.

That's better. Now, can we talk?

Dude, what are all those welts on your back? You must have watched The Da Vinci Code a few too many times.

You really have to stop beating yourself up over this 1-3 start.

True, Sports Illustrated and others picked the Suns to win the NBA championship this season. It's no wonder you're confused and distraught.

Heck, we came into the office last week after predicting the Suns would go 52-30 this season and a co-worker said he noticed we thought the Suns were "going in the tank."

Fifty-two wins is going in the tank? That tells you just how out of whack expectations have gotten for this team.

Quick, do you know how many games Miami won last year in the regular season before going on its NBA championship run in the playoffs?

No, not 60. They won 52. In the East!

And the Suns only won 54 last season, yet they got within two victories of reaching the NBA Finals.

Have you forgotten they started 4-5 last season? Remember, we found you with your head in the oven?

    Good thing it was electric.

Anyway, the Suns have a couple of tough games coming up on back-to-back nights against San Antonio and Dallas. They could be 1-5, and somebody better have a help hotline hooked up for sure.

You know what? It doesn't matter. It doesn't mean they're any less capable of winning the NBA title.

Anybody who hasn't been peering through orange and purple tinted glasses should have seen:</div>
