Stoudamire (4.7 APG)
Keys To The Game: Get Yao and Tmac inolved: Tmac has been averaging 15.7 ppg, he needs to start getting his shot back. And since Eddie Jones is on him, I think that we need to get Tmac more involved in this game, and we need to let him take atleast 20 shots. If Tmac can be more involved in this game, I see him coming back and bringing his average up. Look who's guarding Yao, Tsakalidis. We need to get Yao to bring his post game today. If Yao can do his part on Tsakalidis offensively, I can see Yao getting around 32 ppg. Let Rafer control the ball like he did against Dallas: Rafer had 0 turnovers, 13 assists, 8 rebounds, and 14 points against Dallas. We have to get Rafer to step his game up this game. If Rafer can step up like he did against Dallas while guarding Terry, there is no doubt that Rockets will win. Let Rafer control the ball. Let him set up plays, and let him lead the fast-break. I want to see Rafer make beautiful dishes like he did against Dallas. Fast Break & Attack the basket: We must make steals, play good defense, and get easy fast break points. Rockets had a lot of fast break points against Dallas, and if we can get easy steals and make good use of them and get fast break points, Rockets will win the game. Rockets need to attack the basket; get easy points and get to the free throw line. Rockets need to take advantage of Pau Gasol not being on the court. It is best if the Rockets repeatedly pound the ball inside and our guards take it to the hoop. Tmac should attack the basket and try to get himself going. Get Yao in Foul Trouble: Grizzlies need to get Yao in foul trouble. As observed in the game against Hornets, when Yao is in foul trouble - it is extremely difficult for Rockets to get going. Play Team Ball: Since Grizzlies have no clear advantage at any starting spot besides on PF. It is best if they run a team game and share the ball. Grizzlies need to let Mike Miller get his share of shots since he is shooting a hot 47.6% from downtown, although Battier might present problems for Mike.
Players to Watch: & All the talks about Rudy Gay for Battier trade. This is one game to watch, it is highly likely to see Rudy Gay defended by Battier. We should put all the comparisons aside and let the game talk.
Predictions: Both Rockets and Grizzlies are coming in this game 1-2. One team will make the .500 mark, and lets hope its the Rockets. Rockets need to make open shots consistently, and we gotta have the big boost from the bench from Novak, Bonzi, and Head. Prediction: Rockets 95: Memphis 88
Did you mean Grizzlies? Nice preview pakman. I hope also the Rockets will have the upper hand this time. In their previous games the Grizzlies are very dangerous in the 4th quarter especially if they gain the confidence in scoring points. The 2 loss that they have are just by a slight margin wherein they come back from behind double figure deficit. Their lone win also come from behind when the Bobcats led by 11 going to the fourth. The Rockets should better watch out of the Grizzlies especially Warrick who seems capable of fouling out his men. Hoping also that TMac and Bonzi step up this time around. By the way the Rockets have struggled so far with very good passing and slashing guards like Deron Williams and Chris Paul. The Grizzlies have slashing guards but average passers so the Rockets have the upper hand like the way they limit Terry and Harris' game. Still they have to be cautious. Lastly Rudy Gay may try to impress this time to show the Rockets they made a mistake. I'm glad we had Battier but sometimes I just can't think about the opportunities we gave away. If Caroll Dawson had just demmanded another player like Lawrence Roberts or the Grizzlies' 24th pick or at least their 2nd round pick I would be fine with that co'z I feel we were shortchanged. The salary of Swift and Battier alone is almost equal. Anyway past is past. Durvasa looks like your work (preview) has been cut out for you.

blueracer Wrote

Did you mean Grizzlies? Nice preview pakman.
Yea, I meant Grizzlies, sorry.
Nice thread. I don't think that Rudy Gay will score many points, Battier is still a great perimeter defender. Rockets need to have a good game from Yao the get the W. And I'm still waiting for TMac to start making 30+ points perfomances. But let's give him time. The results: Rockets 87-83 (I don't think that they will score much).
Nice preview Pakman, but just to let you know, there is a Preview Team and a fixed schedule already for the whole season. Just so you don't waste your time doing a preview that someone else has done as well. This time though, I don't think durvasa started on it yet so yours is fine. Thanks. Rudy Gay might come out firing and looking to prove the Rockets wrong, but looking at the way he's been shooting all season, he'll need maybe 25 shots to get 20 points. I'd like that from him anyday.
Damn pakman you couldn't wait one more day and 'accidentallly' make the preview for the Rockets v. Bucks? Just kidding. I should start working on it I wonder if Memphis is going to become one of our rivals. It certainly helps that they are in the same division. Rudy Gay stepping up and scoring 30 to show us we should not have traded him, and Battier filling out the stat sheet with impressive numbers would be fun to watch. I hope we see the 04-05 T-Mac tonight. If he even just shows signs I will be happy. BTW, good job on the preview pakman.
we should have no problem beating up on the grizz, if we lose this game, I think it might be a reason to worry.
Thanks guys Oh, and my bad Locke. I thought whoever wanted to make a preview could, so I did. But.. if i do want to make more, should I have to contact durvasa before hand or are all the previews reserved by the preview team?

But.. if i do want to make more, should I have to contact durvasa before hand or are all the previews reserved by the preview team?
Yeah, way to steal Durvasa's thunder... Kiddin, but yeah the preview team's pretty much going to handle all the previews. However, if for some reason one of us can't do the preview and everyone else is busy (which actually happens a lot), we'll let you know to see if you can fill in for the team. By the way, nice preview. Tonight, I'm hoping to see Yao not get into foul trouble, since he really has a great chance of absolute domination tonight. In the low post, its just Hakim Warrick and Jake Tsakalidis, who are undersized and average, respectively. On paper, he should be man handling the Grizzlies tonight. Plus, I want to see some good ball movement from the Rockets to get the offense going. If both those happen, we should be able to win the game. A bonus would be if McGrady can finally find his shot, but its nothing really crucial. Its going to take time for him to get back into the game mentally and physically.
Whoops. I completely forgot about this. I apologize. Nice preview.
Pakman Wrote

Thanks guys Oh, and my bad Locke. WTF? Our old friend Swift's playing in this game. Just scored on a jumper after subbing in for Tsakalidis. I really hope Dream and the rowdies are skewering Swift for all its worth tonight.
Yup, their isolating Hakim Warrick and letting him take Hayes. Tsakalidas just jacked up a shot trying to draw a foul on Yao. I see Chuck Hayes running to the basket and others finding him, I like that from Chuck.

Pakman Wrote

I see Chuck Hayes running to the basket and others finding him, I like that from Chuck.
Yup, Chuck Hayes cutting to the basket, and getting open down low is really effective since he has quick hands. It really makes up for the lack of a mid-range jump shot that Howard brings. I am happy JVG has chose to go with either defense/reb/tangibles (Hayes), or pure offensive 3 point shooting (Novak) and not Juwan Howard. T-Mac is showing signs (knock on wood).
I think we can all agree that Chuck Hayes is an absolute beast. In just 23 minutes so far, he's already got a double double, with two blocks, two assists, and a steal. If he can stay out of foul trouble, I see him being the perfect complement to Yao as a JYD esque powerforward.
Got the W...I can't be happier. Back to the 500 mark and lets hope we don't go below it again. Juwan played too much, and Novak didn't play enough.
