Hey rock guys, i'm in a phase right now where I'm feelin uptempo rock/punk... anything that isn't depressing and that has a good sound. I was hoping you guys could point me in the direction of some songs I should "purchase". Thanks.
If you want punk rock, here are some good punk groups (well, Blur isn't punk, but that song is) - Blur (song's actually called Song 2, but w/e) Fugazi (Waiting Room is pretty cool) Misfits MC5 Primus
<div class="quote_poster">Voodoo Child Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Blur (song's actually called Song 2, but w/e)</div> I love that song, it's on my iPod. I've always thought Song 2 was a weird name for a song though.
Primus is awesome. Try My Name Is Mud and Laquerhead by them. I've been avidly following beyourownpet lately. They're great stuff. Also, someone like Head Automatica is great get up and go dancy, rock type of stuf.

If Primus is punk then so is RHCP and Metallica..... this is the real punk from the late 70's: Sex Pistols - God Save The Queen X-ray spex - Oh bondage up yours The Clash - Janie Jones The Jam - Eton Rifles Buzzcocks - Orgasm Addict Dead Boys - Sonic Reducer If you want to check out new-school punk, BAD RELIGION is the way to go.
I'd try Bad Religion. Great punk band that is listened to by punks and casual fans alike. They're pretty melodic and uptempo with top-notch lyrics.

I've seen 'em live twice... f*cking amazing live... (BTW - Early RHCP actually is punk. Ever listen to their early stuff? In '78-84ish they were pure punk rock. Ex: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5) Some more punk bands - The Clash The Ramones Dead Kennedys The Sex Pistols The Germs Lagwagon Suicidal Tendencies
Hey Shard, any thoughts from the thread-starter himself on our rec's? (I'm not usually a punk rock listener, so don't be disappointed if mine are sh*t. )
I don't know if you consider Ska uptempo, but it's definitely up-beat. I'll throw some suggestions: Operation Ivy Less Than Jake The Mighty Mighty Bosstones Reel Big Fish Aquabats - Pizza Day and Slightly Stoopid - Perfect Gentlemen... are some good songs too.
