<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">New York Daily News - Steve Francis did not play in the second half of last night's loss to the Spurs after spraining his ankle. Some Knicks felt it was caused by Francis being undercut by Bruce Bowen. Bowen, one the league's best defensive players, has been accused by Vince Carter and Ray Allen of not giving them enough room to land when they shoot jump shots. Francis, who was injured in the first quarter and returned shortly after that, was not available for comment after the game but several teammates, who did not want to be identified, felt Bowen's play was dirty. X-rays taken at the Garden were negative but it is not known if Francis will be available for tomorrow's game against Denver. Channing Frye also sat in the second half but wasn't hurt. He shot 0-for-5 and is inching closer to losing his starting job.</div> Source I also found the last line about Frye very interesting.
I Don't think Bruce Bowen's defensive play was dirty. A lot of players will use that excuse that Bowen doesn't give them enough room to land because he is one of the premiere defensive players in the league and he frustrates the hell out of offensive players. I mean, just think about it, it's kinda ridiculous to say that Bruce Bowen is a dirty player because he doesn't give players enough room to land after they shoot a jump shot.

Think of how many closely contested jump shots there are in a season...and how few times a player rolls an ankle comming down. but somehow EVERY season, Bowen is involved in an incident like this. This year its Francis, last year it was allen, the year before that it was vince...the 2nd time he did it to vince. the first time vince missed quite a significant amount of time you can crowd a jumpshot without sliding your feet under a player. thats called undercutting...and its a dirty play. im sick of seeing bowen doing this to players, and I hope the league starts to investigate this and take action next time.
Bowen is a little bit of both, a solid defender and dirty player. When he's getting beat defensively he usually starts getting more physical and isn't afraid to cross the line and into being dirty. I didn't see the play, but I have seen Bowen slide under a shooter, causing them to land awkwardly. I don't think there's any intent to sideline a player, but what he's trying to do is break the player's concentration the next time they elevate to get a shot off.
Bowen is 100% the dirtiest, rattiest player in the league, he is constantly jabbing and poking at players ribs and pulling there jeresys to slow them down when they cut, he doesnt deserve the praise he gets for his "defence" players like carter, kobe, wade, tmac or any perimeter player who bowen is considered to be very good at stopping on defence, usually scores a bunch when they play him and he usually ends up close to fouling out. he cant play defence enough said he is a fake and is dirty and thats the truth.

Every <u>great</u> defender has been constantly accused of being dirty. Bowen is'nt a dirty player. Every player does dirty moves but when they do dirty moves against the nba's elite they get more attention. Bowen isnt out to hurt stevie. Bowen is just doing annoying things that break concentration.

I think Bowen should be assessed a flagrant foul every time it happens.
What he did was wrong. He's still a good defensive player. I mean look at Karl Malone. He always pulled the chair but didn't get called for it.
