<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">"If he wasn't a rookie," Jackson said, "I would say he's playing better than some of our starters and guys that are playing ahead of him."</div> Source If this doesn't motivate Smush, than he's a lost cause. I'm just glad PJax has Farmar this season to keep Smush in check. If you've noticed, Smush has been getting yanked during crunch time and he's gone to the bench with a glare towards PJax. I thought it was obvious in preseason, that Farmar is the superior point guard. He does have some bad habits on defense, but he makes up for it with his playmaking ability and finding the hot hand in the halfcourt sets. Smush is far too, inconsistent to be the starter for this team, and has mental breakdowns throughout the course of a game. Remember last year when he kept getting whistled for not getting the ball across halfcourt in time? Brain dead plays like that are preventing Smush from being an everyday player. He's too, caught up in his AND 1 basketball showmanship and takes 10 plays off, after he makes a spectacular dunk, layup, or hits a 3 pointer. As the season progresses, PJax leash is just going to get tighter on Smush.
I agree. I think at some point this season Farmar will get the start. He's playing better than Smush and Sasha.
I'll be shocked if Smush keeps his starting role to the AS break. Farmar has played much better and has proven that he deserves his minutes. He's working hard on the court and makes up for his occasional miscue on defense by making plays on the offense. Right now, he's been the best at finding people open outside of Walton. I think he deserves the starting job and felt that way before the season started. And if Phil doesn't want to play rookies that early, why not put Luke at PG and insert Radman in the starting lineup when his hand gets healthy? Or maybe put Bynum and Brown in the frontcourt together? Any of those is better than Smush starting in my opinion.
Rather see Smush be the starter, however, I would like to see one game where Farmar starts, and see how Smush plays off the bench.
I don't see Smush starting for us much longer, and hopefully Phil makes the change soon. Like I have said, Smush shows no desire to play on court, gets burned all day on defense, and makes the most idiotic plays I have ever seen on offense. To top it all off, the guy can't even make his free-throws. It seems to me like he just went on vacation this off-season

He hasn't done much of anything for us recently. He plays dumb, he's inconsistent, and can't play defense. And while Farmar is still learning and will make his fair share of mistakes as a rookie, he plays smarter than Smush, he's shot the ball well so far, he's a great decision maker, he plays better defense, and he knows the offense already. And, when he makes a mistake on one end of the court, he's generally been making up for it on the other end of the court. Smush makes one mistake and lets it affect his play for the rest of the half, game, quarter, whatever.
I want to see how effective Farmar can be playing with the rest of the starters. 1. It gives the coaching staff a clear idea of how Farmar will handle the new role and added responsibility. 2. It gives Smush a wake up call, if he responds in a negative way, then drop him even further down the depth chart and give Sasha, Shamu, or McKie more PT. The time to experiment with roster rotations is early on in the season. Now is the perfect opportunity for the Lakers to test Farmar as the starter.
Smush is shooting 50% from the free throw line, which is just ridiculous for any point guard, let alone a starting point guard. Even Ben Wallace is shooting at a higher percentage thus far
It's not just his FT shooting, it's his shooting in general. He's only shooting 35.9% from the floor. Beyond that, he's only getting 2.2apg, and for a PG that averages 30mpg, that's really pathetic.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> Ben Wallace is shooting at a higher percentage thus far</div> I'm pretty sure thats not true
<div class="quote_poster">ilive4ball Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">I'm pretty sure thats not true</div> Smush is shooting 50%, Wallace is shooting 54%, so yes it's true
"He's too, caught up in his AND 1 basketball showmanship and takes 10 plays off, after he makes a spectacular dunk, layup, or hits a 3 pointer.? Haha so true... but what did you expect he's from New York so is Lamar but he doesn't have that swagger as much as Smush
